Denied on Post Graduation Work Permit

Hi everyone,

I am new here!

I have a question regarding post-graduation work permit applications. I took a five year bachelor degree program and have graduated from an university in Canada. Once I have got my letter of graduation (which is what cic asked for according to the guide provided online), I sent all the required forms, fee, etc to cia applying for a work permit. Three months after, I received a letter (in Canada) stating that my application has been refused and a transcript is required for the application.

I am very confused since in the guide, it shows that only EITHER a transcript or a letter of graduation from the institution is required. I have re-applied with the exact same documents plus a transcript. By the time I re-applied, it has past 90-days limit (which is stated in the online guide: student must apply within 90 days).

1. I am wondering how high of a chance am I going to successfully receive a work permit. I am confident that I have meet all requirements and really hoping the only reason I got denied was due to missing document.

2. Also, I am wondering if I got rejected again and have to leave the country, can I apply it in my home country?

Thanks a lot guys!

ooh that's too bad! Maybe it was the letter of graduation- did the letter specifically say you have completed the degree etc? And provide a contact person to call if they need further information etc?

Mine was denied either because the transcript of records I submitted which I obtained immediately after graduation didn't stated that I already graduated even though all the marks were up. when we visited the immigration office. They accused me of not being a bona fide student since I applied for off campus work permit immediately after 6-mon of study. it pretty screw up everything and I just volunteered to exit the country.

That's pretty dangerous, is it a common rejection reason? don't a lot of students apply for their OCWP after 6 month? nvr knew it can raise flags about you, getting worried here

I meant for my question to be general, not asking the main author to tell me what happened with him.

This is 2015 and the situations have not improved with their policies

Hi all, I find myself in the same situation today.. honestly if anyone has a solution to this post please do provide some much needed guidance.

I got the letter and applied with it, i got a letter saying they have refused my permit because i didn't attach a final transcript or diploma.
How are we to do that if they do not state that on the procedures of the application.

Now facing to leave Canada..

i feel if someone is not able to get work permit..
for any reason
do not sit free or just return to home country
take admission in any diploma course and stay there
basically extend ur study permit after completing that study again apply for PGWP

Most likely, the letter was not in the right format. You should always ask for a specific PGWP letter from the registrar office, instead of any letter.

Hello,

Did you get any update after you filed for restoration or reconsideration of status.

We are in the same boat

- got a rejection letter this week as the transcript was submitted
- completed studies for 2 years
- we've now filed for restoration of status and for the pgwp again

I wanted to check what are the chances of getting them? And, has anyone been in a similar situation and got their pgwp after it was rejected.
