I thought that dependent paperwork processing time would follow the main applicant's paper work and would just get approved with it. I applied June 20th for SP exten and OWP exten for my wife, Visitor exten for my son. Is it common now that i'll get the SP and wait for the others?

get a letter from your university saying that you're registered and your program will end on whatever date, then ask for a study permit extension to the mentioned date. it seems pretty straight forward unless i'm missing something

A study permit is required, but the question is if it's for a FT or a PT program. A FT program study permit will lose him his pgwp. I know few people doing a PT phd while on pgwp, you still need a study permit as well
