denied for work permit at canadian border

hi. I'm in a visitor visa and i have a positive LMO from my employer. i went to canadian border with my employer to get my work permit and i have done all my papers. but i got denied and just given 14 days to leave the country. they said that i lied to them about working even im not. they've given me a letter its says that if i dont choose to leave the county i have to go back to the immigration office for further examination. i dont understand what did they mean by further examination. im really confused right now. can i reapply for my work permit again ? please help me. thank u.

Never been a fan of going to the border for paperwork if you can mail the application and wait. Anyway, what did they ask you and what were your answers? What did they ask your employer and what was his/her answers?

Note that if you have ever been to the employment location(even to visit), they consider that to be illegal work. A guy here was denied a work permit just for going to the employment location, was asked to leave Canada and given a 6 months ban.

I believe what they gave you is a departure order to leave in 14 days. If you don't leave you will have to report to an immigration office to explain why. I strongly encourage you to seek legal advice from an immigration lawyer. You may also want to apply for your GCMS notes in the meantime as they would have the border officer's notes.

It is important that you get legal help asap because a departure order becomes a deportation order after 30 days(if you don't leave before then or have not applied to extend your stay/change status).

Thank u for all the reply. They ask me about if i work. I told them i tried to have a part time in one resto but when the resto finds out that im illegal to work they didnt accept me. I dont know what will happen. Im banned for 6 mos here in canada. I wish to stay and work here but i dont know whwhat to do. A friend of mine advice me to talk to an immigration lawyer. I dont think i have options even i talk to laywer coz its expensive.

Can i ask you guys, probably what kind of answer should i answer if they ask me why i want to stay here in canada.. Im really confused and super down. Thank you.

You entered Canada as a Visitor (a visitor isn't allowed to work) and you said that you tried to have a job (illegal to do). That must have turned the officer's head upside down.

Thank you. I already talked to an immigration lawyer through phne. But not yet setting up an appointment coz its a little bit expensive. She told me to folow what its says in the paper or maybe there is still options if i talk to her. My employer ditch me and saying he dosnt want to get inbolved in a lawyer or immigration problem. I dont know he supposed to help me but he give up on me. Its said if i found an employer who can give me an lmo will be better or get married here.. Help me what to do pls.tnxs

That's the reason for rejection and ban. If you have ~ $300-400 to spare, see a lawyer for 1 hour consultation to discuss your options. The other option is to return to your home country, serve out the 6 months ban and then re-apply. This time it would be better to have a LMO and job offer before applying. The chances of getting another visitor visa is unlikely because your last record shows you tried to work so it will be a tall order to satisfy an officer that you are a genuine visitor. Not to mention there are changes(more to come) to the foreign worker program and LMOs will be hard to come by.

It's unfortunate that your employer backed off but not surprising. Even if you got another LMO, there is still the 6-month ban to deal with. About marriage, if you are have partner who is Canadian/PR and marry, he could sponsor you. Just be sure you are marrying for the right reasons and not for immigration purposes because that comes with its own problems down the line especially if CIC questions whether it's genuine or not.
