Hello,
I am an university teacher (Assistant professor) and would like to apply for express entry in Canada. I have few questions/doubt! Will be glad if get correct answer or advise.
1. I am planning to apply by myself instead of using agent. Will it affect to get visa/application? Any advice
2. Should I assess my education/degree before open express entry profile or when?
2. Should I only assess my highest degree (PhD), my PhD from outside Canada.
3. Will I get any extra points in CSR for my spouse degree assessment? Her bachelor degree in French studies.

Many thanks in advance!

Regards,
Ahasan

1. No impact whatsoever. You are better off not using an agent: they are costly and unreliable. You still have to do the majority of the work, which is gathering documentation. Their only real job is to click the upload buttons on the application and help you answer questions. Most of your questions can be answered from this forum!

2. Your degree evaluation is valid for 5 years, so you may as well do it now. Yes, you only need to assess your highest degree, unless you have 2 PhDs!

3. If you apply single, then you get full points for education with the PhD (140). Because you apply with your spouse, you can get a maximum 130 points for the PhD and your spouse can get up to 10 points for Masters or higher. Check out this link for how points are awarded: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/express-entry/grid-crs.asp

Thanks picklee! I am the principle applicant but I will include my spouse (wife) and son (2.4 years old) in application. She has only bachelor (4 years honours in French studies from university Indonesia).
Should I assess her degree?
Can I get 10 points from her as she only bachelor not Masters?

Thanks,

You should try checking with CUC calculator first. But bachelor is netter than no education antway. If your spouse can pass both IELTS and French exam it might add more points.
