Deferring to January 18 intake

Hello Friends,

I got visa on August 2, 2017 for Sept 2017 intake and my visa is valid till March 2019. I have to defer my intake for January 2018 due to the work commitment at office (As my notice period in 3 months).

Please advise, will it create any problem if i travel in December with January 2018 intake LOA?

Will there be any problem at POE? Also, do i need to notify CIC and apply for my visa extension as if i go for Jan 2018 intake i have to extend my visa till April 2019.

Seniors please help. It's urgent.

My case is bit different than your. You got visa after your course start date passed but i got it prior to 1 month of my course commencement. But as i mentioned, i have to notify my employer 3 months before so i won't be able to join this sept 2017 session. Please advise.

I suggest you have a conversation with your manager or HR in your company about your situation, that is, if u still want to make it for the Sept intake. Some companies' policies are such that you either have to give 3 months notice or in lieu of that, pay the company 1month salary. So in that case, you won't be paid for the last month you worked.

By having this conversation with your company, I don't think it'll have a dent on your reputation in case u have to work for that company again or any other company.

Goodluck in whatever decision you arrive at.

Yeah, i know but my project has dependency on me and i myself need some time so i am thinking to plan my higher studies for Jan 2018 intake if it is okay and doesn't create any problem at POE.

Shouldn't be any problem. Make sure you have confirmation of deferral to jan 2018 (your course start date), paid 2018 tuition for 1st term, your 1st term courses enrolment letter, paid accommodation, and MUST have your employment/experience letter (mentioning till when you were employed), all of this handy at POE.

Also for extension of your permit you can apply for it when you are here in Canada, anytime before your current student permit expires (off-course when you are near the last term of your studies for which you want extension.)
