Deferring studies while visa is being processed

What happens if I defer to Winter 2021 while my visa is being processed? I am from the Philippines and I doubt I'll be getting my visa in time for the Fall 2020 term (which is in September). Currently, IRCC is prioritizing online applications instead on paper based ones. Do I need to request a letter from the school about my new school term and submit it to IRCC? Or do i need to cancel my current application and reapply? I can't seem to find information from the IRCC website regarding this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

in my case i have deferred from may to sept while my application is in process i have simply used web form to provide them my new letter of acceptance and in your case i think you can also use the same web form if possible ? just give it a go or just simply ask them through that medium

Yes, I’m done with my biometrics and also medical examination. Basically now I’m just waiting for them to open my paper application.
