Hi,

We've applied for my daughter's Canadian citizenship certificate as I am Canadian by birth. I am sponsoring my common-law partner(from outside Canada) am I correct in thinking we should include our daughter on IMM 0008 and IMM 5406?

Note a bit more detail and document requirements on imm5533 in the section about the sponsor, question 3 - do you and the person you're sponsoring have children together who may have a claim to Canadian citizenship.

You do not include her on imm0008 - it says you include all dependent children "who are not already permanent residents or citizens." (Your daughter is a citizen for the purposes of this form even if you've not yet received the confirmation and she cannot be sponsored).

imm5406 - does not include that language, but all children, regardless of age (ie here one would include non-dependent children) and status. It's a family information form.

Sorry just to clarify, would we have to declare my partner's three sons (non-accompanying) on IMM 5406? The are already on the generic application form and the form detailing my partner's whole extended family or are we only required to do IMM 5406 for our daughter?

Thanks

Your spouse fills out 5406. You do not. She includes all of her children on that form.

You don't "do" 5406 for your daughter. Only adults complete this form.

If by the generic application form you mean 0008, yes, they would be included on that form as non-accompanying, and your daughter is not, because a citizen. (I assume none of them are over 18)

Note you are not included in 0008 either, because - as above - you're already a citizen.
