Hi,
I also have several foreign travels and would like info as to how fast CSIS perform background and security checks. I guess your Background and security checks have already been done. You do not have to worry about it and it was done fast according to your timelines.
Good luck

Hi,

I too have lived in canada and US for more than 6 months. All my stages before submitting medicals were super duper fast. Submitted my passport around 21st Dec 09 and no reply yet. Raised and email enquiry about 1.5 months back to which the reply was background checks are in progress.

Been more than 4.5 months now :(

This is a topic I created there are more people there have a look

All the best.

Hi all,

Actually it depend whether you exempt from security checks or not, if your file gone to CSIS then you have to wait for atleast 5-6 months or more otherwise you get visa within 30-45 days.......
Security checks are usually done after sending RPRF, medical and passport. Security checks are depend on many things and done secretly, so no one actually know how much time it will take.
I have observed from this forum that persons who lived or living in Canada for more than six months are waiting longer than other FTH as you know they donot require PCC from Canada. I am also waiting for my passport from CHC newdelhi from last three months and some members are waiting from four or more.

These are my observation, i may be wrong.....any way best of luck for your case.

Hi,

Please do include me in this list aswell. Though i have not stayed in US or Canada for 6 months, but I have been working on cruise ships in US. As my stay was not more than 6 months as I was regularly leaving US every week to go to Mexico. CHc did raise up a query on 25th March 2010 which was answered to them in a satisfactory manner regarding FBI Clearance. After that they themselves withdrew my earlier Federal application on 29 March 2010 which was filed in Nov 2005 and the reason stated is "Since u have an active PNP application your earlier application has been withdrawn."

However in the Manual OP 1 states:
The second option is to allow processing of the federal application to
continue and to submit a new application in the provincial nominee class, along with the new fees.
The applicant does not necessarily have to withdraw the initial application, because the
Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) does not prohibit multiple applications. Prior to
finalizing either application, the visa office will advise the applicant that the second application has
to be withdrawn for the visa to be issued; visas must not be issued for one file while the second remains open and in process.
Since cases under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) are not in selection inventory queuing,
having these applicants withdraw and reapply should not disadvantage them as to their places in
the processing queue and their processing times.

Since its nearing 45 days after my file was withdrawn by CHC, I do hope its not gone for thorough BC.One of my friend who had the same query got his PP with visa after 2 months in Jan 2010 at ND.

I too am getting restless with each passing day.I did put case specific enquiry a week ago but CHC has not answered to that.
So I hope its coming and pray to GOD that each one of us who have been waiting for so long needs you blessing.

Hi,
What I understood from the email response to your inquiry, some duration of your application processing has been noted in your second AOR: Quoted from your previous thread "We estimate that the review may exceed the average processing timeframe set out in the Acknowledgement of Receipt letter which you received." My question is whether there is a timeframe noted in your second AOR? One of other applicants here, member ID: await, received his second AOR mentioning that his application processing time was 18-24 months waiting even though his application was under fast track system. But, i ma not sure if he has any FTH.
I am also FSW applicant with FTH in Canada, USA and EU and have been waiting for over 50 days for medical request.I got a PCC from Canada jsut before I left canada and submitted it to CHC. I am not sure if CSIS has started security check on my file.
So, does your second AOR note any timeframe of application processing?

I think security & background checks be performed from the stage of "in process" to till your visa is issued stage. Otherwise, nothing is done during so long waiting period just before medical, RPRF and PPR request is sent

I have noticed this too, but this is not correct as security check within canada would be the fastest for CSIS to perform than other countries.
These are my observation, i may be wrong.....any way best of luck for your case.

Hi Icecube,

Background checks are usually before issue of medical which include standard documents checks like ur degree and employment letters etc.
Security checks are done after they got medical reports.....usually done on applicant who they feel are threat to national security eg terrorism, espionage and subversion.
I have also submit criminal record check from Canada, but in my case it has not any effect on processing as it taking to long. May be it some thing else they have doubt.....
Mostly who are in long background checks, lived in Canada for more than six months....

I had FTH in my profile... This caused me initial hiccup coz we need to submit police clearance for all countries where we have lived for more than 6 months. So getting PCC was a bit time consuming task, but CHC processed my application really faster than I expected!

You can check my timelines from my profile.

Thanks.

Hi, what exactly you meant by standard documents check? I think this normal documents check is done as a review to determine if an application is eligible for FSW. this is done before ecase gets "in process" stage. but once in process stage, all documents are subject to background and security check verifications. medical can be requested during this time. I am not sure though.

@poison
do you live in canada for more than six month , if yes......Have you given RCMP police clearance while submitting documents.....

@icecube

Security checks are done after medical clearance report and done on only few files if they doubt that potential immigrant is a threat to national security eg if some one name is similar to someone in list of black list organization's database.....it is just one factor and they consider several other factors before considering the file for security check by CSIS>>>>

Hi Ice Cube,

"We estimate that the review may exceed the average processing timeframe set out in the Acknowledgement of Receipt letter which you received."

Is just standard text they copy paste in every reply. Looking at most of the replies (to other memebers as well, there are some other threads in here where peple have pasted their replies) in my opinion, read the 1 paragraph or cud be just a line and rest is standard text they send to everyone depending on the question asked.

Now comming to your question My question is whether there is a timeframe noted in your second AOR?
I am not sure which one is the 2nd AOR, is it the one which is received after submitting full application to your local CHC (New Delhi in my case)? If yes, then it says 3 to 8 months, infact thats the only letter I have from CHC - New Delhi.

-Thanks

Hello SG,

Yes, second AOr is the one you get after submitting your full application to CHC, ND. Now, your second AOR says that, " 3 to 8 months. What I understand is that you are lucky as you got your second AOR, the only letter you received from CHC, ND says that it will only take 3-8 months. this is what email response was referring to, that is " We estimate that the review may exceed the average processing timeframe set out in the Acknowledgement of Receipt letter which you received". Most applicants get a time period within which your appication be finalized. However, this time period may exceed average processing time. comparing your case with mine, I just got a letter after submitting my full application to Colombo visa office with no any time period mentioned. We share similar situation as we both have FTH, the US & Canada and they have given you a specific time period in which they will finalize your application.
Thanks
