Decision made - no correspondence received - deadline for visa?

Hi,

I'd like to ask for advise. I'm a PR living in Canada sponsoring my wife who lives in Dubai. Here's the timeline:

- I was approved as an eligible sponsor late August.
- they started processing her application September 6th
- Medical results have been received
- we sent you a correspondence on Nov 10th

The last update popped up after "in process" status changed to " decision made".

Here's the situation: neither us or our lawyers have received the correspondence. Given the amount of supporting documents and length of our relationship, the lawyer who's supposedly top tier in Canada thinks it's been approved. They have contacted the Abu Dhabi visa office to have the correspondence resent ( supposedly it fails to be delivered from time to time). Apparently Abu Dhabi office takes 2 weeks to respond. it's been 27 days since they claim that have sent the correspondence.

It doesn't sound too bad as being patient is name of the game and we can do it for a it longer BUT I came across a sample approval correspondence of another individual in which the letter states, the applicant has 30 days to submit his/her passport for visa issuance at the embassy and if the passport and photos are submitted in this 30 days, it could cause delays, possible refusal and so on.

Has anyone heard of such deadline? My lawyer being extremely positive on the matter is suggesting she should submit hr passport and photos for visa issuance along with a print out of the "decision made" page and a letter from their law firm. I feel like this is unnecessary risk if the deadline in question is nothing to worry about.

Any thoughts?

Ok so 41 views and no reply.

While waiting for opinions, I surfed through the forum and realized maybe I didn't phrase my question right.

Let's try again:

When the "applicant's" approval is communicated either via mail or email (PPR) , is there a deadline in which she has to submit her passport for visa issuance and COPR? If so, is this deadline always 30 days since the letter is sent out or is it dependant on the expiry date of medical? Is missing this deadline problematic?

(You might ask, why miss it? Well we believe DM refers to approval but haven't received the correspondence yet so we are waiting for the VO to resend. That's why )

Our lawyers emailed them. Supposedly takes 2 weeks to get a response.

I can't go to Abu dhabi VO as I'm in Canada.my wife could go I guess but I've heard in person inquiries don't amount to much.

Weird, I thought I replied to this, maybe I forgot to hit "post".

Anyways, shouldn't they have emailed you the PPR? Did you provide an email address or is your lawyer receiving snail mail from them? Make sure whatever email you check, you check your spam around that date carefully. Check whatever emails you may have put on the application.

If you and your lawyer/spouse still can't find it, send another case-specific inquiry. Put "urgent" in the subject line along with something like "correspondence lost". In the body of the email be polite, but explain you have waited 2 weeks for the correspondence and fear it is lost and need it urgently so you don't miss any of their deadlines.

Now, I don't see a real risk in sending in her passport if it comes to it, unless she needs to go somewhere sometime soon. If she had no document requests or interview then the DM is most certainly good news. I know VO's often frown on sending in a passport early, but in this case she has DM so it's inevitable. Perhaps someone else will give their opinion on this, but even your top tier lawyer says it's ok.

As for the 30 day limit, you might have better luck asking in the ADVO thread if they do only give a 30 day PPR with DM: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/spouse-sponsorship-abu-dhabi-office-t95703.6225.html
