Hello:

Last week I checked my status for wife to come to Canada and it said decision made letter in the mail. One week later no mail. Tried to reach the CIC, but lines are always busy. My wife had her medical and and the CIC even requested an additional information which we send back them with 4-days. My wife is from the United States... Is type of letter to be positive or neagtive? The waiting is worse than the application we filled out.

Re: Decision Made. Letter in the mail. Positive or Negative

Did they request a copy of her passport pages when they requested the additional information?

Re: Decision Made. Letter in the mail. Positive or Negative

If she redo the medical then is a good news!

Congrats! ;)

Hi Charlie D10

Thanks for the reply...

In our original application we both sent pages of our passport. If they can track our passport entries they will see me going there like every two weeks and she has come to visit me Toronto many times as well.

Hi I.N.

Thanks! I hope it's good news...

Don't bother calling CIC. They aren't allowed to disclose the decision made results over the phone. Unfortunately you'll just have to wait for the letter.

Thank You. It makes sense to me that the CIC would not offer the information over the phone.

I think it should be good news. Do you mind sharing your timeline? Where was your file processed?

I'm new to this site and here is my timeline. I would assume my file was processed.

Category........: Spouse
Visa Office......: Mississauga
App. Filed.......: 20-Mar-2012
Medical:.........: 18-Jul-2012
Additional Form: 04-Aug-2012
Decision..........: 21-Aug-2012

Sounds like you should be receiving your sponsor approval letter if you filed in March and had to send an additional form. The Decision Made is likely for the sponsor, not the spouse.

What is the next step for the spouse? Most likely an interview?

Thank you CharlieD10. I was about to say that. It's decision made on Stage 1. Or that's supersonic fast if that's Stage 2. There're US applicants still waiting for that since middle of last year 2011. Hoping Ottawa moves faster for every US applicant.

Agreed! I hope things move a lot faster.

An interview is an exception, not the rule. Basically what's next for the spouse is a whole lot of waiting. You want to have the interview waived, not be convoked to one. It's rare for American spouses, anyways, so she likely won't have one.

The next step is to wait for the office processing your spouse to contact you for any additional information/documents they need (hopefully none) and to ask her to send in copies of her passport pages so they can issue her Confirmation of Permanent Residence forms (hopefully soon, but it will take at least 6-8 months).
