IRCC updated their status page:
Wait until you receive your AOR
Last updated: March 9, 2021

We’re now sending AOR letters or emails for applications received
the week of December 31, 2020
If you still haven’t received your AOR, your application may be
  • taking longer for us review due to COVID-19
  • incomplete and on its way back to you, or
  • going through further review before we start processing it
I'm starting to get concerned as I applied online in February, while we still have people in here that are waiting for AORs for their online applications.

Is anyone going to follow up with IRCC through the webform and attach their saved copy?
I think its mainly taking the physical applications into account. Like discussed in previous comments, the resources for online applications seems to be really small. Online applications will keep lagging behind further in terms of receiving AOR, until they put more resources to catch up.

But I am still optimistic because the small delay in AOR shouldn't matter as long as we get the test invites within a month of getting the AOR :)

I applied online Dec 19, no AOR and I have never received a confirmation email after I submitted my application as some other members mentioned. I am getting worried too :(

Hello Dec 2020 applicants! Is there a spreadsheet with your info?

Although I'm rather dismayed that you're all getting test invites within about a month from AOR (I've been waiting over a year...), I am happy to see that IRCC is streamlining the process for the future.

Ok this is getting interesting and frustrating, IRCC's Twitter account says that only people who are invited can apply online:

I just got off a call with the IRCC call center agent. She seemed to be knowledgeable compared to other IRCC agents I had spoken with.

First, I started by giving her background information about the doubts "we" had about the online application as of early Dec 2020 and that we could verify that it was legitimate. Then I talked about online applicants who had received AOR while many online applications have not compared to the paper-based Dec applicants. As the discussion was going on, I asked the big question about the invitation to apply online based on IRCC Twitter. She then clarified that what they meant by invitation was the random appearance and disappearance of the link to apply online for some persons. That there isn't any formal email or letter sent to individuals to apply online. So, once someone can use the link to apply, the person is "invited" if there is anything like an invite.

She asked for my personal information to check my file (I already knew the outcome as I haven't received AOR) which the response wasn't a surprise to me. Then I asked her what she advised me to do next as there isn't AOR issued to online applicants anymore. She said she can't advise and based on my asking if I should reapply via paper, she said that if I intend to reapply via paper, that I should include a letter of explanation so they will understand my conditions.

Now, I am not sure whether to send in my documents with a letter of explanation or wait for 2 more weeks. Maybe at the moment, I can do a CSE with my online application attached.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for this detailed reply and your effort to call IRCC. My plan right now is to wait for IRCC to get back to me on my webform request. Then I will decide whether or not I will send a paper-based application.

I think I had my hopes up when I saw online applicantions getting AOR in less than 60 days, and then getting test invites. You might be right (and I hope that you are) that it's a matter of a backlog and not a decision from IRCC to only process few applications.

Here is tracker for 2020:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1U27V95kWlCVYWB0zye7DvqoXSkyqxgbA31eEJ_TKO6Y/edit#gid=566701841

Only 4-5 online applicants got invites for tests. It seems they just did a testing of this new pilot online application system for a small sample. There is no progress for online applicants since last 10 days (not even AORs, which are getting issued to paper applicants).

Same receipt is fine. Even when you get your application returned before an AOR, you may use the same receipt.

I used mobile app to get right digital size.
I've studied photography, digital photos cannot be defined in terms of mm or inches. It can only be defined as pixels. Online filing is so new so they don't have proper specification. I belive specifications gonna be similar to Express Entry or Canadian passport i.e at least 420 x 540 pixels. Using a 3rd party app can be risky as it can make the size of photo smaller that those pixels and it can lose lot of details. Also those 3rd party apps often leave some meta data on the photo, it will show that photo has been editied after taken by the commercial photographer.
