You might want to call IRCC to check in. Per their website:

"Last updated: December 30, 2024

You can only check your application status after you receive your AOR letter or email.

We’re now sending AOR letters or emails for paper and online applications received

the week of December 10, 2024

If you still haven’t received your AOR, your application may be

- incomplete and on its way back to you, or
- going through further review before we start processing it"

I ended up getting a hold of an IRCC agent and they told me there is no application on file even though I paid and had gotten a confirmation email of my submission :) They forwarded a request to the processing office in Sydney, NS and they should follow up with me.

I'm glad you called even if it wasn't good news per se.
Did you download a copy of your completed application when you submitted it? If not, log back into the portal and see if you can download it now. Then submit that as proof along with your confirmation email.
The onus/burden will be on IRCC then, even though they'll probably ask you to reapply and use the same payment receipt.

Thanks! Yes, I already have a copy of the application downloaded and told the agent about it as well. I don't understand how an online application gets lost :D

It's a mess for sure. I hope it quickly gets sorted out for you.

will our applications be affected with all the political events happening now?

Great question. And only time will tell.
Worst case scenario, they create a backlog in the processing of citizenship applications.
Also, if the requirements are changed, I believe we would be grandfathered under the current requirments. This is what happened when they were changed in 2017 by Trudeau's government. He made attaining citizenship easier. That may be dialed back again.
Honestly, at this point everything is all speculation and a guessing game. I say we pray for the best and keep moving forward.

Any changes in the law will take at least a year to implement. Additionally, the law is not retroactive, so you should be fine. The only potential concern is delays caused by the government transition, but an early election seems unlikely.

When are the elections supposed to be anyway?

It will most likely be today's date as they officially returned the application to you and you had to resubmit it. In any case, the AOR will state the receipt date. Please let us know what it ends up being.....

still no AOR so far...

Your new receipt date is Dec 27...and they were sending AORs for Dec 22 today. So, wait a few more days as they work towards the 27th.

And I guess that answered your question. The 27th is most likely your new application receipt date.
