Hi everyone,

Just an update here that on April 17, I finally got the email invitation for the oath ceremony which is scheduled for May 2. YAAAY

Single applicant: I applied on Aug 1, 2024, AOR was received on Aug 23, 2024, citizenship test email was sent towards mid Sept and it was marked completed on Oct 1, 2024. I had an in person interview on Jan 7, 2025, and finally the oath email came on April 17, 2025 for May 2, 2025 ceremony in Vancouver office (in person).

It was quite tiring and stressful journey as I mentioned before that I've been in Canada on various kind of Visas since 2013! So you can imagine how hard it was to wait just 8 months for the citizenship!

What I think had helped was that I made a phone call to IRCC when the portal was down which was on April 8, 2025. I kept the conversation light and only asked if there's a way to expedite since I had no update since Jan 7, 2025. Maybe the call nodge the application, mayne not but I'd like to think it did.

This group was very helpful in so many different way and I'm happy I found it.

I wish everyone best of luck in your journey and sending positive vibes your way. Good days will come

Hi ffn_343, may I ask what number did you call? I also applied in Vancouver back in Aug, similar timeline as you except i never received an interview request. My online process had no updates since Dec 5, 2024 (background, prohibition, and ceremony outstanding). I'd like to contact IRCC, but all I could find is through a "IRCC Web Form" portal (https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/contact-ircc/web-form.html). Thanks in advance!

Any updates for the ones still waiting for LPP or Oath ceremony? Today my application has reached 8 months.
I will wait one more month and will hire a lawyer if we don't get an answer until then...

No updates since early march, we're waiting for them to schedule the oath! Frustrating, pure bureaucracy.

Have you checked the forum to see how many applications from 2022, 2023, and 2024 are still pending? Many are stuck at BG, SS, or LPP stages. Some applicants even filed a mandamus after waiting a year or two, but haven't received any results yet.

I understand how you feel—I've been waiting since January 2024 and I'm still counting. That said, citizenship is a privilege, and in the grand scheme of things, 8 months isn't actually that long.

Yes, I have checked all that you mentioned. I just wanted to touch base with people who are on the same boat, which is waiting for an answer. And we never know anyone's circumstances and/or reasons. That's why I don't judge whoever is still waiting, whether is 3 months or 3 years.

"No one is judging anyone here — you’re free to do whatever you believe is best for you. Period.

But let me put it this way:

Imagine you invited a friend to stay at your place while their home was being renovated. A month goes by, the renovation is finished, but your friend still wants to stay. You say, "Sure, let me just check with my family first." Then four days pass, and they haven’t heard back from you. So, would you be okay/happy with them taking you to court to not let them stay at your place? Probably not

Just think about this.

Good Luck

I called 1-888-242-2100. Make sure to start calling right at 8 AM. I requested a call back instead of waiting (had to work) and received a call back within 25 minutes even though the wait time was 15 minutes. The agent went through some security questions with me and updated my file as I had old email address and old home addresses on file. They can't do much or answer specific questions but it might help?! Who knows!

Best of luck.
