I think 10 months is Inland Outland is 12 months . I think it change recently as well. Just keep following up and see what happens, sometimes you won’t hear anything at all and then you start to get updates here and there. I’ve seen some that are longer than this , my friend took 2 years , so it depends . Everyone file is different. Background normally take the longest. Just keep following up with your lawyer.
Unfortunately, I can no longer communicate properly with my immigration counsellor. When I asked what the Ottawa IR was, he said it takes days to process your eligibility. I wanted to apply for TRV for months, at first he said to get the file number, I said okay, I waited. The file number came, this time he said that one of you should pass the eligibility and fulfil the medical instructions. I did all that. I think he said to wait. Finally, I insisted and he said okay. I asked him which documents were required, and he didn't even answer for 10 days. I received the sponsorship approval 11 months after the application date. Now my file has not been transferred to my visa office. I think it is waiting in the queue to be transferred to the visa office. It looks like it will take more than 12 months. But the background, will Canada process the security check or my visa office. I don't even know where I am in this long journey. Yes, after a long silence, the files can be concluded quickly. But this process is disappointing for me. 11 months later, if sponsorship eligibility has passed, how long will I wait. A black hole.

Canada normally do background check.. it’s like 3 stages so it takes the longest.. like about 3 months. I know it’s long and drawn out .. but keep your head up, you will get through . You’re almost there!

I have just looked at your profile and I STRONGLY CONDEMN you. You are now in Canada with your wife. And here you are questioning people who go through this difficult process separately. I'M ASHAMED FOR YOU. I wish I was the one who went through this process with my husband. I understand the reason for your comfort now. But a piece of advice for you, when life is smiling in your face, enjoy it instead of questioning what others do. Otherwise, in your most difficult day, there will be those who make you feel negative emotions.
Okie Dokie.

Full timeline in signature.

I had 2 countries for BGC - UK and the USA. I had to guess my first entry into Canada for both my OWP and Portal declaration. I was a driver for Greyhound between NH/VT and QC for 3 years and must have entered Canada about 150 times, many times with no document checks as I got to know the guards at Sherbrooke very well. I do seem to remember doing some enhanced clearances when I started driving with them - so it may be that was flagged in my passport that I already had previous clearance, but who knows.
no ADR, just a very slow application. I got MP involved with OWP - that helped that along I suspect.
But all in all, we planned for a year long process, and thats what we got. So for all else here still - be patient.

PR Card now in the hands of Canada Post.

Thanks to everyone in the beginning who gave solid advice and guidance.
