Def interesting to see how quickly this will be rolled out. The consultation period just ended; they still have to pass the amendment making it law. Wouldn't it suck to be invited on May 31 to take the oath sometime in July, while someone on June 1 gets invited to do it themselves the next day.

Good news applicants. We will be able to take online oath without presence of an authorized person (Judge) so we mostly wont have to wait for the oath date and letter for months (except Ottawa and Niagara office as they are slow as a sloth). This will mostly start from June.

This change is being promulgated by an amendment to regulations and does not need an act of parliament to affect the change. This regulation comes into affect as soon as it is registered after the comment period (along with amendments) in the Canada Gazette. So, it will be much faster than the time it takes for a bill to become law by an act of parliament

The more you know! Sweet - be nice for it to apply from May already. It's the only practical way forward to process hundreds of thousands of citizenship applications every year.

How do people know their application office with online submission?
The test invitation comes from an office-specific email address, so most people use this email address as an indication of which office their application has been sent to.

I see the test invite in the tracker but I have not received the official email from CIC or the testing authority. Is this normal?

That seems to not be a completely accurate way to ID your processing office. Some have received emails from Vancouver when the processing is done in Niagara Falls, for example.

Wow, these applications are moving so much quicker than they were last year! My test invite took 8 months after submission… I don’t know if you can apply for urgent processing of the passport until after you become a citizen though. It took me 4 months to go from writing the test to taking the oath.

Thx
