Guys, for December 2020 applicant they are giving temporary file number now starting with XF000.

By calling the cic, they will give you temporary number which is a good sign that they have your file now waiting for an officer to review it for AOR.

Okay, so you did not receive an email from IRCC yet right?

i dont think any cover letter is needed.

Just to add to this a bit:

A cover letter is not required nor is it necessary. As a general rule, anything you would have put in a cover letter should be covered in the application itself already.

If you want to write one, there’s nothing stopping you from doing so, particularly if you know you have a fairly complicated case, but for most people anything you would put there would simply be redundant.

My husband and I never wrote one for that very reason. Anything we would have put there was covered in the application itself, therefore we would have just been repeating ourselves. For anyone who has a very straight forward case like we did, I wouldn’t bother.

We included only a list as cover letter of all the documents in the application as there were quite a few. Honestly that was mostly an organizational tool - sort of a complete checklist of docs and forms - for me to use while compiling, and I decided to attach it for convenience. There was no text to speak of apart from that.

It also helped me in keeping a complete copy of the app package as sent.

That I like! If I was going to suggest a cover letter it would have been something like this, particularly for anyone who does have a lot of documents to add.

My own application was somewhere between 100-150 pages in total. (Closer to 100) In our case and others like if I feel it isn’t necessary since the application itself was so small to begin with, but definitely doesn’t hurt for anyone who has a lot of paperwork going on.

If i pay my fee onlines for my spouse, will I be charged immediately on my credit card? Or will it be charged when my files gets processed? Also is better to pay biometrics fees now or when an ircc officer sends a letter? Thanks

You are charged immediately and need to include the receipt with your application. I suggest paying the biometrics fee now. Good luck!

I did a cover sheet for the additional documents to explain what they were, how many pages. Section one was sponsor proof/additional documents and Section two was PA proof/add. docs.

The Checklist is kinda like the cover sheet, u would check off all documents in the package and following the checklist order.

Looks like people who Applied in Sept 2020 are starting to get their AOR's, I see one guy who got it 4 days ago Jan 21, 2021. Hopefully it does not take 3-4 months for us to get our AOR :(

Yes I understand, but there is a section where they ask for further proof of the relationship - shared finances, tickets from travel etc. etc. I made a list of these things in order i placed them.

I'm just worried to get it sent back after waiting that long :(
