Regarding the abbreviation not to scare you but I heard one app was returned for that.

There seems to be a lot of variation in their criteria - many people said they used abbreviations for work addresses and still got AOR. Could it be something else? It seems like an awfully petty thing to do to return the entire application over something so minor.

It happens, depends on the agent working on the application and yes they do return for petty things.

wait until you get AOR - then you can you can link. u can pre-make ur GCKEY Acc right now if u want though.

The outdated forms may be an issue... my husband signed and returned our forms and before I even got them back there were updated forms so we redid it...and lost another 3 months due to the stress of it all.

When I prepared my app, I remember the last two days litterally checking it many times, my wife said I was crazy. My words were I AM NOT HAVING THIS RETURNED AND WASTING MONTHS. Hence when i got aor i was super excited.

I found that out afterward when I was going through this forum. Honestly when preparing the application I only used the IRCC website and phoned their agents for help if I needed it - I went through the Basic Guide top to bottom and nowhere in their online guide for spouse sponsorship application (both Basic Guide and detailed guide) does it mention anything about outdated forms. I only realized it after submitting - the updated forms are identical to the ones that I submitted (only a Privacy Disclosure has been added at the end) so I'm hoping it's not an issue. No point worrying about it now anyway.

I did not see this case but somehow doubt that it was returned only for this - but obviously could be wrong, I didn't get that letter.

Like this news article that implied one was returned because parents didn't have email address. The article did NOT say exactly this, but implied it.

The one thing we know for sure: not signing where needed is a guaranteed return. It's a legal document, must be signed. (Confusion I think is because 'electronic signatures' applies as far as I know only to documents _submitted_ electronically - but the forms are not clear about this)

That's the problem, is when they are unclear. There is a lot of cross referencing that can be done, you scrutinize your application so much it's actually a recipe for disaster.

and that is an issue in itself. There should be a link on the IRCC website stating the dates of when forms are updated so you can cross reference quickly and easily and even THINK of doing that. I was about to submit ours when I ran in to this situation in a group where someone's application was returned for this reason.
