Some of it can be pressure related, especially when they’re at the interview and freeze because they’re nervous. That’s why the better prepared you are, the less likely you are to freeze. Others have trouble retaining information, which again is why talking with your partner regularly helps to make the information stick.

It’s good for everyone to make a habit of knowing their partner’s hobbies, tastes, background and history, quirks and other things that make them uniquely them. Not just for immigration, but just for a healthy relationship overall.
Agree 100% with you. Regarding pressure, the interview officer is professional and good psychologist. He most of the time will be able to see whether you just nervous or don’t know the answers. But,in our case, all we have to do for all this time is talk with our significant ones anyway))

I know this is an older post from a while back, but I wanted to respond to it because I think it’s important to talk about.

While myself and my spouse were never interviewed, we would have been able to answer these types of questions easily. The reason I’m saying this is because as someone who spent many years living apart from my spouse, I cannot stress enough how important it is for a couple to communicate on a regular basis while they’re apart. These are the things you should be talking over with your partner, and it’s a good idea to take advantage of virtual date nights by learning everything you can about your partner or reminding yourself of things you’ve forgotten. That way, if it ever does come to an interview you can answer their questions with confidence and no hesitation.

Communication is absolute key for Outland applicants living apart from their spouses. Even on the days when the timing doesn’t work for long virtual conversations, take five minutes to say hello, goodnight, I love you.

The more you’re in sync with each other, the easier it is to make it through this long journey,

Also, is it true an app was processed in three months? Of so, that’s awesome. I don’t think I’ve seen that since 2019. That’s definitely hopeful for the future!
We do talk everyday, we talk about our past, what's going on, our future. We are 9 hours apart and he sleeps when I'm at work, he works when I'm sleeping...he does 12 hour shifts...so we make time to video every day for an hour... that's the best we can do. But, to be honest...my husband will never remember my favourite restaurant is Elephant & Castle, he doesn't know my phone number because we only talk through messenger or imo video chat. I don't know his number either... I don't think these are easy questions... especially not for someone who's first language is not the same as yours.

Virtual date nights... when we are 9 hours apart, him working 12 hour shifts is impossible. I'm getting home from work, he's starting work. When I'm waking up, he's going to sleep...and I do try to wake up early so we can talk a bit before I get ready. He is living in a shared situation at the company he works - he shares a bedroom, he uses the commercial kitchen to cook his food, he has no tv...how could we possibly do a virtual date night? It's really an unfair assumption that everyone who is in a marriage or relationship that is long distance is not trying... some of these situations are complex. Once a week we do a group chat with his family in a 3rd country. We do video chat daily, we do tell each other good morning, goodnight, I love you. I find your statement somewhat hurtful... because we are doing the best we can to communicate daily with what we have to work with...and him memorizing my phone number or me his when we will never use it, does not seem significant - not to us. And it's ridiculous that we would have to do so to prove a genuine relationship.

Hi All,
my eCAS now says "Application Received", it was "In Process" for the longest time.

What does Application Received mean? Is this AOR2?
I'm happy for you... I'm starting to feel hopeless I will ever get this. :/

I,personally,do not understand people who have issues answering basic family questions. If the relationship is genuine-you know all the answers imo.
Really, I lived with my last partner for 13 years...I never memorized his phone number. It was programmed in to my phone. I don't have anyone's phone number memorized, as a matter of fact. Until I got a customized plate, I couldn't even tell you what my license plate was. Some of these things are just insignificant to me and it has nothing to do with genuine love.

Yeah, I just don't see knowing someone's phone number as proof of a genuine relationship. If I call my husband on the phone it's $1.95 a minute...why would I do that when we can call on any number of apps for free? As far as our friends and family... we program their number in our phone and leave it at that.

There is no rhyme or reason, there's no way to give a precise timeline. Every application is individual. You can look under my post for my timeline and you will see some other people have added a timeline to their signature as well.

Oh trust me, I understand. My husband and I lived on opposite sides of the world for six years on opposite time zones so I know it’s tough. You just have to do the best you can, even if it’s not always ideal.

To add to this, I never once implied you weren’t doing any of these things. This post was not directed at you specifically, nor at your specific situation. It was a general piece of advice for all Outland applicants living apart. Of course not everyone can do exactly what I said. They were simply helpful tips as anyone in this situation knows how difficult it is to be apart from their spouse and they’re helpful tips for preparing in case an interview is ever called. That’s was all this post was about. Nothing more.
