My husbands visitor record expires on October 10th, 2021. His PR is in process and we have received the pre arrival letter. We are just awaiting IRCCs officer response to custody documents that show he has no parental rights to his son anymore and we cannot get a medical. Should we apply for another visitor record? We had also applied for OWP but that hasn’t even begun processing…

Hi Erika, I would apply for the visitor extension to be safe because god forbid if something wrong happens with the PR application, I would fall out of status. I feel it's better to apply for extension now rather than applying for restoration if that happens. Also have you checked on ECAS? does it say Decision Made for both Sponsor and Applicant?

Yes it is Decision Made for Sponsor and I received the letter saying I am eligible to sponsor him. We ran into some problems with his ex partner not wanting to do the medical for non accompanying dependent & recently she was granted sole custody and sent a notorized letter asking IRCC to remove him off the application. We sent all this to the officer as requested by the officer and we haven’t heard anything for almost 2 weeks now.

I would suggest you to apply for visitor extension since it's taking more than 4-5 months for that be processed and in the meanwhile if you get the PR approved you could just withdraw the visitor extension and get the fee refunded.

How long did it take everyone to get their physical card? My partner got ECOPR and completed everything over a month ago now, and his photo has not been approved online so still no card...

I am curious about this as well! I received eCOPR on Aug 25th, followed by a portal email on Sept 7th that said "IRCC has approved and closed your case. Your PR card will be mailed to you at the address provided." My address and photo were accepted in the portal as of Sept 7th, but my gckey still shows the PR card application as "Submitted" and have not received anything in the mail....

We got medicals and Biometrics request in July and finished them immediately. No update what so ever after that, still no Sponsor approval or pre arrival or anything, anyone in same situation, tried calling IRCC but they always keep saying because of Afghan crisis we are not able to provide any details.

I’m just wondering if anyone has any insight to this as I can’t find a clear answer online

My spouses ex partner is attempting to come after my income for child support. The dependent is not being sponsored and it was requested he be removed off the application since my spouse has no legal or physical custody. We are still waiting for the IRCC officer to decide on this. She says because I am financially responsible for my husband with sponsorship, I am responsible for her child as well. To my understanding, I am only required to be financially responsible for my spouse who I am sponsoring and his basic needs. Can anyone provide a little more insight on this?

It is a family law matter, not immigration so it would make sense for you to seek advice from a family lawyer. In short though, you are not responsible for her child. She cannot come after you. If your husband pays something towards child support, that is all what she gets. It is like with inheritance, everything that you inherited before the marriage are your personal goods, same with debts etc. Again, talk to a family lawyer.

Definitely! I was just wondering on my sponsorship responsibility portion of all of this as the child is still a non accompanying dependent on the application while we wait for a decision to remove him.

Anyone else stuck in eCOPR limbo? I received my invite and submitted my declaration on August 19th. Since then ... radio silence.
