The letter I got implied that no further processing occurs until Biometrics are done but also that the biometrics are factored into the estimated processing time. In short the sooner you can provide them the better in my opinion.

Hey guys biometric request letter came for me and my wife but not for our child(4 years old). So it means they don't need any records for our child. Since visa office is far away from out city we don't want to take our child there if it is not a requirement.

And also please tell me is it important to give biometrics as soon as possible? Does it effect processing time? I am asking because the closest biometric collection center is 700 km away from where I live and cic wrote in the letter that I have 1 month for giving biometrics. I'll book a flight according to your replies.

I understand that you would need to fly to your nearest biometric center, but I recommend you do it as soon as possible and definitely within the one month allotted to you. It may be that they cannot or do not start your criminality and background check without your biometrics, although I can't be entirely sure of this. I was not required to provide biometrics and these changes have just gone through at IRCC. Indeed, January 2019 AORs will be the first cohort where everyone has had to provide their biometrics.
I understood the same thing concerning the biometrics & processing time, with the biometrics system the idea is that the biometrics goes to RMCP who then processes criminal record checks based on fingerprints etc... (https://www.lexology.com/library/detail.aspx?g=5e5db88e-baa5-424c-a060-2463f4f8878a).
I would imagine that they keep processing the Express Entry application once this step is done otherwise would be a waste of resources?
In any case i did it the next day to prevent any delay (but i am lucky it was close to me).

BTW, Mr. @derkdsou and @USProgrammer

You are doing a great job in the thread (keeping it alive) and at the same time are encouraging all to write their signatures, but I can’t see your signatures as you guys have limited who can view your profile. Why’s that?
I have not intentionally limited my profile. Can anyone else on a desktop verify that they cannot see my signature?

I've been following this thread but never participated, it's nice how ppl have become good friends without even meeting in person. Am wondering if ppl would meet up if we all get PR and start in the same province
I probably would, but if granted PR, I will probably be doing a soft landing and not moving for a while. I have a lot of stuff to wrap up in the US (house selling, figuring out what I want to do with cars, etc).
