What You Can Do If You Have Been Friendzoned
(your application has gone over the stipulated six-month processing time)

Step 1: Speak to IRCC to find out the date and nature of the last activity on your case as well as your visa office. Instructions on how to call IRCC are in my signature. If your case is being processed in Canada, request the agent to “send a reminder” to follow up with your case officer. The agent may choose not to send a note if there was a "recent" activity on your case, but it’s totally worth a shot.

Step 2: If your VO is outside of Canada and the agent can’t send such a reminder, look up the email address for your VO using this link. If no email address is listed, use this special Web Form to contact your VO - there is an option to select a specific VO like London or Accra.

Step 3: Consider ordering GCMS notes. Best to order them via a friend or relative in Canada, or from a third-party service provider.

Step 4: If you are not satisfied with the response you have had from the steps above, you can look into contacting a sympathetic MP to request the status of your application. Note that while MPs are empowered to look into immigration cases, I understand they cannot and do not strong arm IRCC into processing your application faster or intervene in the final outcome. One such sympathetic MP is Ralph Goodale who can be reached by email at ralph.goodale@parl.gc.ca or goodale@sasktel.net. If you are already in Canada, it is apparently possible to request a meeting with your MP to discuss the progress of your application; you can look up your local MP here.

Good luck!

Your style always shines through in your posts. It's wonderful. :)

Just a note to people who have reached the 6 month mark: reaching 6 months does not necessarily mean that there is an issue. Please don't harass them with calls and emails; it is burdensome for them and it doesn't really do anything to accelerate your case unless there's a genuine issue that needs addressing. Request GCMS notes first to see if there is anything in your file to be concerned about. If there is not, try to be patient-- they will get to you.

For anyone who is waiting for PPR post 6 months timeline, I would say don't just "consider" ordering GCMS notes. Just go ahead and order notes. There is nothing to lose but for a few of you it could be really beneficial.

All the best!

You're absolutely right, @northern sunshine! Guys, please listen to her advice! My intention is not for people to flood IRCC with calls but to follow a plan. :)

Ordering GCMS notes is great advice, @cansha, but I realize they take 30-60 days to arrive and there are faster ways to discover any red flags via the call center. People have reported they missed an ADR, claiming the email never hit their inbox; their application was turned down promptly at the end of the 30-day request. There is a reason why I ordered the steps the way I did :). I applied for GCMS notes when I wasn't satisfied with what I was being told over the phone and I think other people should, too.

Fair enough but I don't think there are chances of knowing whether someone's application is in "Review Required" just by calling agents. And even if some agent is kind enough to tell that they won't / can't give details why application is in RR. Yes it takes 30 days to get notes but still the best way of knowing details about applications. There are plenty of examples of people receiving conflicting information from different agents.

At the end it is individual's choice whether to order notes or not.

Same here. Called yesterday. Same reminder sent and today I received this email from Ottawa: Good day, Please be informed that your application is currently in queue for review by an officer. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide you with a date on which your file will be reviewed. Please be assured that you will be contacted immediately should further information be required or regarding the next steps in your file.
We thank you for your patience and for keeping your correspondence to a minimum.

I'm laughing and crying.
I'm wondering what does "your application is currently in queue for review by an officer" really means;

1) Are our cases in a queue that is waiting to picked up by a random officer?
- Officers surf through the queue and randomly pick up a case and have it reviewed and put it back in queue or send it a different department.

Or

2) An officer has been assigned to our case and s/he has our cases in his/her queue?
- Cases in the queue are numbered based on some internal system. The officer clears the queue by reviewing the cases one by one to eventually get to our cases.

To be honest, it may mean something and it may mean nothing. I have seen people receiving same generic line for months when they called IRCC. I wish they were consistent.

Jus a query
Is POF included in Eligibilility check?
I had a talk with an IRCC agent who said ny Eligibility is Recommended Passed.
Does this mean the POF part is recommended passed as well @legalfalcon @USProgrammer

Hi there ,

i have submitted my express entry file on 10th of December 18, and 6 months bar just completed few days back .
I guess they are running behind little bit as i figured out from the response's in the thread. Just wanna say that i am not much worried but little curious about that , ( Has anybody received any update in between the time slab from submitting the file and getting the response of approved application after six months or so).

I have just started the whats app group for discussion and updates for those who are not able to catch up on the updates over here ,if somebody wants to join they can drop their numbers to keep us on the same page. !

Thanks
