Hi everyone! We haven't sent our app yet but were just about to with the old forms when we noticed there's a brand new package!! I am a Canadian citizen and my husband is a Brazilian citizen. He's currently living with me on a visitor visa which expires at the end of January and now with the new package they want this:

"Are you and your spouse currently living together? If yes, provide documentation from two of the following three sets of options:
  • joint ownership of residential property listing both the sponsor and the principal applicant;
  • proof of joint utilities accounts;
  • important documents for you an your sponsor showing the same address, such as copies of Government issued identification documents: driver's licenses, insurance policies, etc."

Since these weren't required with the old package, we don't have any of these proofs and not sure how long it will take to get them.

Is it possible to send the application without these proofs, explaining our situation, so that we will have proof of an application in progress for when we send his visa extension?

Or should we send the visa extension application before we send the PR app and explain why we haven't applied yet (waiting on the proofs as mentioned)? Would they grant him a visa extension in that case?

Hopefully these questions make sense! Thanks in advance!

I realize this is an outland thread, but if anyone has any advice or insight it would be greatly appreciated :)

********WELCOME TO DECEMBER 2016 SPOUSAL APPLICANTS FORUM *******
All the applicants and sponsors can start this forum with understanding of outland spousal process;

1. SPONSOR expectation during the first step:

a. AOR1 or Application package will be sent back for lack of relevant document
b. Request for missing document or updated document - based on your spousal application
c. Medical, CIC payment, required application forms and Police report check
d. SA = Sponsor Approval email or letter

2. SPONSORED APPLICANT expectation during the second step: Shocked Shocked

e. AOR2 - from Visa Office
f. missing or updated document request - based on case to case
g. eligibility and criminality check
h. Interview - based on case to case
i. passport request for visa

For the people mentioning that their applications were signed off by David S. etc upon submission, where is that viewed , how were they notified? I have sent mine in on December 15 and I'm sure where to get notifications?

If you sent it via courier, your tracking number should show if its signed for and who signed it.

I sent my application with DHL courier, I had a tracking number through which I could track my package and also see who signed when the application was received. You won't get this if you sent it through regular mail...

Hi.. Adding your info on the spreadsheet won't make your info appear on your Profile timeline (left side, under your username) here. :) You need to have 10 posts before you can edit your Profile and add your timeline. :)

I'm (just) at my 3rd pots then...
Thanks for the info :D

New user, added my info to the spreadsheet a while ago. Just a few observations:

Our # of days from SA to "In Process" is negative; is this unusual? We got the email for the AOR1 with the case # to log into ecas on Dec 22 and when we logged in it was "In Process" in both columns right away and it says "We started processing XXXXX's application on December 21, 2016." I got the SA approval a week after that on the 29th.

From looking through the other monthly spreadsheets, my application seems to be moving very quickly (app sent 12/10, AOR1 12/13, In Process 12/21, SA 12/29), is it too early to get my hopes up? Other people seem to have months in between each of these steps ??? I know they're trying to get through applicants as quick as possible, but this seems like it's going faster than most; I just want to know if we should prepare for everything to happen much quicker than we first expected?

Not complaining obviously, but if anyone can give us a reality check or additional insight that would be greatly appreciated.

hum.. the formula is correct in the sheet, but I am not sure why your "Permanent Residence Application Status" change to In-Process (Dec 21) before you get the "Sponsorship Application Status"

Yeah that seems odd to me too. It seems like they started processing the PR side of things before they approved SA? The first time I logged into ecas on Dec 22 both columns showed "In Process"
