That is such a sad situation, i feel sad
what is happening now, u could apply for a visit visa if you got your application number

Hi there,

I applied for spousal sponsorship via the outland track for my husband in December 2014. He was employed on work permit in the USA with a H1-B visa. It just happened around the holidays that he was unfortunately he was laid off. He has applied for change of status to a visitor B2 visa and is awaiting a decision while wrapping up in the USA. He holds a Canadian visitor visa and plans to visit for a few months but not move all his stuff to Canada until he gets his residency approved. He has family in the USA and will keep his personal items there.

Can he drive from the USA and stay with me in Canada as I am a citizen? He would visit Canada on tourist visa for a maximum of 4-5 months and then leave to go back home to wait for his sponsorship application to be processed. We were wondering if he will have a hard time at the Canadian border if officer sees that his sponsorship is in process and that he has applied for a change of status to visitor in the US. Also, does he need to show a return ticket to our home country or is it not necessary considering he will be driving to Canada?

Does anyone know of or have any experience with such a situation? This was unfortunate but we have to deal with the situation and since it's easier for him to come as a visitor, we figured that this is an option to consider.

Any advice would help :)

Thanks!

since he already has Canadian visa, there will be no problem.

canadian officers are very nice, they check for weapons at most,

us officers ask many questions but i guess he wont have an issue with that for the time being.

when I cross the border, they staple a paper in the passport showing the amount of months before which I should come back to canada. I think he might go through the same.

regards

Thanks for the info!

Added my info to the spreadsheet. Looks like I've got the most days under my belt as I got mine to CIC on Dec 1. (That's only because I sent the box (yes, it was a box about the size of a ream of paper) from near Mississauga.

I'll try and chime in if I hear anything about my application, good or bad. No guarantees though as I'm in the middle of moving back to Canada during all this. It's like a full-time job trying to coordinate the logistics of all this.

If you don't mind, please update your timeline onto https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/14DDXQ8Svie2oQKmsbHfOzwLARTyyvSIl0wCE4KmHnmo/edit?pli=1#gid=0
Thanks!

Yes sure, but the spread sheet is in arabic language only.

Yes, I have nothing much to add

i have added which date i sent the application

I see another column that talks about medical, who is this for, the sponsor or the applicant ?

I am sure that I dont need to do any medicals as it does not say that the PR of canada needs to do medical again.

thanks

Hi, all Dec applicants,

please kindly let us know if anyone of Dec got any response/email from CIC for SA or AOR (acknowledgement on requests). I believe that they are now doing Nov (end of Nov) applications. hopefully start dec soon.... Looks like they are getting fast to process (no holidays in Jan/Feb).

Ian.

Hi Tranjini

AOR basically means Acknowledgement Of Receipt. They receive your application and will start the process.
ADR means Alternative Dispute Resolution. You can read about it here http://www.irb-cisr.gc.ca/Eng/ImmApp/Pages/IadSaiAdrMarGuideApp.aspx
