Thank you Patience09. Yes I hope Ottawa takes much less time than the listed processing time of 15 months(Spouse). I saw on the December 2013 forum's excel sheet that almost all of Ottawa applicants had their medical linked on ECAS by Feb/March. That's why I was wondering about ours.

Hey Natsul, welcome as another Ottawa applicant! I'm curious to see who will be the first one to go in process. Don't worry to much about not seeing your medicals. Some people take a long time to see. The best thing you could do is to request your GCMS notes.

Wanted to say Happy Easter weekend to everyone (and happy long weekend to those who get to celebrate it). Been a bit quiet, but I suppose that's to be expected. Hoping those of us still waiting are at (past? :P) the halfway point. At least that long winter is over!

Thanks Maple and same to you! Wouldn't it be nice to be able to look at the glass as more than half full?!?! :P You're right about the weather, warmer weather might make the waiting a bit easier...... Or more difficult depending on how you look at it!

my status seemed to have gotten stuck ;D. Anyway, i've been snooping in other forums and so far for manila applicants, at the rate visas and dm's are being issued, december applicants will probably get news by july and august to september at the most. So the top most in my to do list is: to pray and wait patiently. :P. however, some peeps said that cem is on a fast track lately. Who knows, we'll get ours sooner than we think.

At least, your status has changed naman.. I know! :) July is not too far so I guess I'll have a silly smile plastered on my face on July! :)

It was a little hard to enjoy it knowing that CIC wasn't working on our files, but still good! :P
Now let's hope our visa officers came back in a good mood!

Several people in the London thread got DM and In Process updates over the easter weekend.

It's weird but I've seen CIC sending people emails on the weekend!! Makes me wonder if they do delayed emails to make people think they're working overtime ;)

Hey all, I'm super confused about something...

The immigration package says that the permanent resident visa is valid for only one year after your medicals were done, but I also read that you need to be in Canada as a permanent resident for 3 years before applying to be a citizen. How can you stay in Canada if your visa isn't valid anymore? Sometimes the application takes more than a year to process, so then what happens? As I said, I'm super confused...

It means you have 1 year to land in Canada, or until your medical or passport (eg: if your current passport with the visa stamped on is only valid for 6 months, you have to land before that, regardless of the medical) is valid. After you land you'll become a PR and you won't need a visa anymore! Because the visa is only for you to land and "activate" your Permanent Resident status at the border/airport.
