So much for having a separate day dedicated as Family Day but keeping us apart from our family for such a long time. That ain't fair at all! :o

JenPin,

I believe that on 'family holidays' like Valentines, Day, Family Day, Xmas etx, CIC should really make that extra effort to push out applications in overtime. I mean, they must have some hearts right? They should understand that it's much more difficult to be away from loved ones around these times. ;) That's the way I look at it at least

Wow!! Is this for work Wifey? Have you ever been before? I guess if you've never been, you should at least try poutine at La Banquise one time.

Also, l'academie is nice for breakfast in Mont Royal. In general, the Plateau area is a cool area for nice restaurants

If you have time to check out the Old Port, places like 701, Taverne Gaspar or Mechant Boeuf are good

Merci beaucoup!! Oui - je suis ici pour travailler (my french is very rusty! LOL) but yes for work :) thanks for all of the suggestions!

I'm here for two weeks!!! :D

lol it's so funny because I barely use French here on a day to day basis apart from the general bonjour, merci at the supermarket if I feel like speaking it. Usually, once people realize that you are not French they switch to English. I work at an English company, so if it wasn't from me taking classes, my French would be super rusty.

I am happy to report that my wife is 10 weeks pregnant. It will be interesting to see how this unfolds as her expected due date is September 2014.

Wow Miller, CONGRATS!!! I think that there is a high chance that the process will be done by then. My question is though, if your wife gets COPR before then, would you consider her having the baby in Canada? (seeing that many provinces have that 3 month wait time for insurance). I guess it would make sense for her to have it in the US, cause it may be too close anyway to travel. You would just have to apply for the baby's citizenship if you are already a citizen.

Thank you both. We decided she will have the baby in the US since it is less complicated there. Having the baby in Canada is not an option as it can cost well over $10K. Even if she gets the COPR by June, we will need to wait 3 months for OHIP to kick in. I will take Parental Leave of 4 months from work to be there with her during and after the pregnancy. Hopefully by then she will get approved and I can move her and the baby back to Canada.

Yeah, well that would be perfect! You even have a little buffer if it takes longer than Sept to get the pr sorted out. I think it's kind of good timing :D

Fingers crossed that it all works out smoothly

Great news, hiccup over! My ecas changed to 'in process' on Feb 18th (please to be updating the spreadsheet, thanks a million). My VO has 2 people recently with a 3 month processing start to finish and there are 2 people who have their passport requests and decision made after 2 1/2 months! I'm hoping to be lucky enough to just have to wait a couple more months but more than anything I'm just happy my case is moving again. Yay!

P.S I sent off some extra evidence just because. Mailed it yesterday so should arrive next week.

Wow, totally jealous right about now..... :o :o

You must be so relieved! That would be pretty awesome for you if you can get processed within a few months, especially as you were planning on waiting longer.
