Hmmm interesting topic people..... I guess I would have to agree with the 'man thing' from my personal experience also!

I'm the one that loses sleep, freaks out, obsesses with this process etc (granted under normal circumstances we are both laid back and calm people)

My husband is not a paperwork kind of guy, so I was the one that took care of everything. I just made him go over all the forms when I was done to catch any mistakes.

I'm the only one that checks the status on ECAS, is on this forum, does research online etc. And while I'm complaining to him, he is the calm one to tell me just hang in there and don't freak out. Of course he has down days and I bring him back up on these times, but I think his strategy is to kind of forget about it and let things happen in the background while I want to be on top of everything and in 'control'.

Hope this makes sense ;D

Makes perfect sense to me.

I know how you feel. Unfortunately, while all of this research (and I'm totally in the same boat as you) is well and good, we aren't in control. It's very frustrating. I just keep telling myself that hopefully this is the most difficult bureaucracy I will ever have to deal with in my life.

Before we submitted our application we were staring down the barrel of the US government being shut down and the Canadian foreign service workers on strike and all I could think was that these two governments were just working against us!

With all the discussion here ladies and gents, if we don't stop obsessing (myself included) we WILL go crazy ??? Honestly, i stress so much about the application, i literally get sick :P then my husband goes: all is well love, it'll be fine...we don't have control but someone ABOVE does and then I calm down... But It's sooo hard to not obsess :P. oh well, i guess i'll just pray and pray and hope all goes well for all of us. By the way, i just read in a,different forum that those who,got visas were applicants from march 2013 :-\ envy much... :P :P

Mine either!

I've heard of people who got the visa's granted and their spouse has landed..and the ECAS was still "application received"!

Apparently..it isn't a good judge of the process. Some get updated regularly..some others don't =S

AHHHH!!! One more thing to worry about........

Question: Has everyone received there Sponsor Approval via mail? Or did some people get it via Email?

Since we were on the topic of men anyway, my worry with the approval is...since I did the whole package I discovered that my husband hadn't done his taxes in a few years. So I had to provide the CIC with a letter of assessment from 2012 stating that he was quite in debt to the government. After all of the hard work, I hope something like that doesn't make it so I can't have him sponsor me. Anyone else have less than perfect Sponsors and still get approved?

Why do I have a feeling that CIC started their weekend quite early this week. The last update was on 15th Jan!!! :'(

I received my AOR and SA via email - there were some on the forum who have received AOR via email and SA via mail. No sure whether there is a rhyme or reason to that >:(

Both my sponsor and I recieved our respective AOR's by email, the SA came by mail.
My boy has a bit of bcg debt, we hadn't updated his last taxes to 'common law' yet and he has a minor conviction from the riot. Waiting for SA was the scariest wait for us as the rest of the app (ie, my application -_-) is fine, no red flags. Even with these things he was approved to sponsor me so hopefully it puts some minds at ease. It seems like for stage 1 they really just want to make sure the sponsor can afford to take care of all applicants/ dependants and that they don't have any domestic violence in the household.

On my side of it the application is very basic, no 400 pages for this girl. I simply filled out every question, any that I couldn't or that didn't give a concrete answer, I simply address with a small paragraph on a separate page. We only included 8 pages of photos, 15 photos all up as neither of us is huge on having our photo taken. I attached 6 mo of phone logs showing multiple calls every day to and from each other, and got a stat dec of our common law union just for extra evidence. Only time will tell if it's enough I guess. If I know Aussie's though, seeing my nice slim file probably made someone's day a lot easier! Haha
