+1(514) 937-9445 or Toll-free (Canada & US) +1 (888) 947-9445
Update: member Sweden gave me a telephone number that may be useful for others who are applying from outside of Canada (my husband is Mexican): I called that number and spoke to a courteous agent (a big change from the bureaucrats I've dealt with so far), and although there was no real update, he did send CIC a reminder that the agents were behind schedule. I also got in touch with our MP's representative, and she let me know on March 4 that my sponsorship was approved.

Here's the useful number for calling from outside of Canada, thanks to Sweden:
"+ 1 - 613-944-4000 then press 1, for English, then press 2, then you'll get switched to CIC call center, then press 0 then press 2, and you'll be connected to an agent."

It's now May 1, and I see on the CIC information site that "they" have received my husband's medical. On their schema of what that means, a kind of explanatory table, it says in blue under status "Decision Made" and beside that, under "explanation" there are three subcategories "Medical Results Received by CIC"; "Approval Status Determined"; and "Permanent Residence Status Determined". Since there are still two steps after Medical Results Received, how should I understand the status as Decision Made?

Does anyone know how much longer it might be from this point forward, assuming they don't want more medical information?
Can they still request an interview at this stage?

Thanks for any and all information.

Anyone else getting antsy seeing all that October and November movement?

I am!!

yep... and seeing Jan/Feb and March applicants getting their approvals... :(

They're getting approvals already? Damn

Me too! the closer to December it gets I get more excited, lol. Dumb though, My VO is well, slow. There are a few applicants from 2011 still :o Not holding my breath, the processing time is 15 months. Getting too excited now 4 months in might be a tad premature...

What is your visa office?

I hope it goes quicker for you <3

Thanks! I hope the same for you too!! :D

I know... I saw on the March timeline that someone going through Hong Kong rec'd an approval.
Really is depending on the VO...

Hello everyone! I just found this forum and wish I had months ago!

I'm sponsoring my common-law partner, who is British. We live in Montreal and have applied from inside Canada. Here are our dates, some which come from the On-line services site:

- December 5th 2012 - Application received
- January 21st 2013 - Started processing application
- February 12th - request from CIC for us to apply for a CSQ
- March 19th - Received CSQ for him and Quebec approval of my sponsorship
... and now we wait!

However, I see that the online services page hasn't budged from:

Sponsorship application status: In Process
Permanent Residence Application: Application Received

The CSQ approval letter says that they transmitted all relevant information to the visa office processing our request. But we've had no updates since then. We're going to contact the Call Center again tomorrow to see if they can confirm they've received the CSQ... the letter we got from the CIC saying to get the CSQ states we only have until May 13th to send them the info or they'll cancel the application and we start again! Like I mention above, the CSQ letter states that it's been sent, but because we've had total silence from then I'm getting really worried...!!

Has anyone else encountered this?

Hey,

welcome to the forum. As you're an inland applicant, most information and timeline on this thread might not be very relevant to you. there is an Inland 2012 and Inland 2013 thread where you might see more similar timelines, and thus more information on what is going on.
Stage 1 for inland is about 6 months, and second stage is 8 months. Looks like you're getting close to being done with stage 1, so that's great... now more waiting. However, if you have included a work permit with your application, your husband should receive it soon... once the first stage is approved.

The CSQ is an added step for Quebec, but the immigration process for spouses is a federal one, so it doesn't have an influence. They won't issue the PR until they have the CSQ from Quebec, so it's great that this part is done, but it doesn't mean that anything has moved from the federal side... however, as you've been asked for the CSQ, obviously somebody is working on your file! You should get the sponsor approval ( first stage) in about a month ( and a work permit for your husband if you've asked for it).

I don't think that you should worry about not hearing from them - it's fairly normal, and you're well within the first stage approval time. I'm not sure that the call center will be able to tell you much more than that.

Good luck,
Sweden

Hi Sweden!

Thanks for the reply! I've found a Quebec Inland thread, which is perfect. ;)

I called CIC today and was told that they have received our CSQ, and that the letter from them requesting it can be a bit confusing. The guy was super nice and was quick to get the info I needed.

We received our CSQ on 4/23/13... hoping that the rest of the process through the Los Angeles VO goes quickly! :P
