Debit card declined

Hi everyone, this is the first time I'm applying for a Canadian visitor visa (TRV) to attend a scientific conference. I need to pay 185 Canadian dollars as visa fee, but the site says my payment was declined. I contacted the bank, they say they didn't decline the payment, it was the site itself that did it. My bank is Monte Paschi di Siena, the card type is debit Mastercard. I'm attaching a screenshot of the decline message.

Could you please tell me what's the problem?

Sites don't decline transactions, banks do. Either your bank or the one IRCC/CIC uses rejected the transaction. Try a different card (not MasterCard). The Bank of Monte Paschi di Siena could be flagged somehow. Try a card from a different bank. Or use a credit card instead of a debit card.

IRCC does not accept debit Mastercard. Only Visa Debit, or Mastercard credit.

• Visa®, MasterCard®, American Express® or JCB® credit cards (including prepaid cards)
• Visa® Debit and Debit MasterCard® (for online applications only), and
• UnionPay® (for online applications only; debit cards not accepted)

Debit card users must be enrolled in online banking to pay their fees online.
