Is it okay to only put the month and year, or do they went the day as well? Some pictures I cannot remember the exact day...and I don't want to make it up...so I have been putting the month and year only. Is that okay?

The captions I am writing include where the picture was taken, who is in the picture, who took the picture, and the month and year it was taken. Is that okay?

Thanks,
FS

P.S. It's going to cost a lot in printer ink when I am finished!!!

I only put the month and year, with a 1-2 sentence caption for each. I think the idea behind dating the pictures is mostly to show that they span a range of time, and you didn't run around town taking pictures all one week. You've been living with your wife for a few years, though, so you probably have plenty of variety/holidays/etc.

I know I can find the exact date, but that would involve a TON of work. I think it's easier to simply put the month and year...so that's what I am going to do.

Cheers,
FS

I used the date taken as well...in fact it was fairly straight forward.

Tons of work is what this process is all about! ;D

This also helped the time line for us...we went through the pics and were able to remember things for. 4 years ago using the date stamp in the pics.

FS i responded to your pm, did you get it?

yaaaaa for me too that was the fun part to do :) funny we also had a 4 year period and it helped us remember things good in our timelines or other proofs :) it's not too much work comparing with other stuff plus u can put ur default view in explorer with the created by date....like this u can see ur pictures chronologically and also present them chronologically too :)

It's fun, but I also have a young baby to take care of, plus I am working full-time....so I have decided to put only the month and year. I think that is good enough. I don't think it states anywhere to include the day...

When this is all over and done, I should send the Canadian government a bill!!!

DATES NOT IMPORTANT.

THEY WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT YOUR MARRIAGE IS WELL-ATTENDED AND THE PICS ARE NOT STAGED.

Pick the pictures showing audience in the background.

Trust me. Take my advice sincerely.

Some pictures show people in the background, but honestly, when you are travelling and taking pictures together, who actually tries to get people in the background of the picture? Most of our travel pictures show backgrounds of islands, temples, the sea, etc...But anyone looking through all our pictures would easily see that we have been together for years! 7 years! We honestly don't have a lot of pictures with people standing in the background, but the backgrounds are all different...showing the various places we have travelled. This is what they want to see, no? The VO will surely see that none of these pictures have been staged...

I think mroliveland was referring specifically to pictures of the wedding, not pictures in general.

Another tip I read on this forum...thos candid shots that aren't posed for are really good to submit. When I first went through our pics I bypassed those ones and then went back and added them... The point, it's harder to photoshop pics like that.

And the reference of people in the background could also refer to friends and family...showing you and your spouse interacting with each others people will help too.

:D

I didn't even put dates. The pictures were of our engagement, wedding, reception and honeymoon and since all our friends and family were at the wedding it is pretty clear it is a real thing. Plus the dates were on the application. I didn't put a ton of other pictures because I felt the wedding related pics were sufficient. I also put a picture of our baby. We have a daughter who is a Canadian citizen through me.

You are fine without the day! That isn't even important.

Also you should probably print through Target or Walmart or Shutterfly.com. They have coupons and even give free prints. Printer ink is expensive!

I meant wedding/reception parties pics. Pick up the ones showing the audience. The number of auidence should be reflective of the number of people you delcare on your statement. I remember in one of the refusal decisions, the visa officer wrote "the applicant stated that 200 person attended the wedding while the pictures do not show more than 50"!!!!!!!!!! Avoid pictures that can be interpreted as staged pictures i.e. sound as taken in studios. Avoid the pictures that you and the bride look posed to the camera..pick up the pictures without such posing (i.e. random pictures such as while dancing with the bride or while cutting the cake...and so on).On the back of each picture, write brief description. Focus on the pictures showing family members with the bride and groom. Identify them in your descritpion.

Print out the pictures in Walmart. It is very cheap and give you high quality ones. I printed out 50 pics and costed me around 10 dollars. Don't exhaust your personal printer in printing such pictures.

Focus on the parties pictures (wedding/marriage ceremony/engagement/reception parties). Regarding the honeymoon, it does not matter very much as most of the honeymoon pictures appear as posed pictures. They just serve as a proof that the honeymoon was done (it does not matter much whether the honeymoon was done or not as the officers focus on the marriage itself whether it was public and real or not).

Considering all of the above, don't pay much attention to the dates. if you remember them, that's fine. Otherwise, just follow the above.

To be honest, I was not aware about these things until I went through this forum. I sent random pictures with the original file. Now I will be sending additional ones covering all these things with my hope they'll add them to the original file before the review.
