Hello,

This question might be silly, but the IMM5532 can be tricky to understand sometimes.

My canadian wife and I are living outside CAN. Part A question 6 of IMM5532 asks about "when do you plan to return to Canada". We plan to return after the PR is accepted.

Since the whole process is long and we don't know how much time it is going to take, should I put an estimated return date or what?

Any help is well appreciated.

You will be required to provide concrete proof that you will be relocating. You can add proof midway through processing if needed.

So far, I have just put down "AFTER ACCEPTANCE OF THIS SPONSORSHIP APPLICATION" - do you think I should add something like "estimated date Nov 1, 2025"? I feel putting a date down is somewhat presumptuous right at the time of application.

Also when you say "you can add proof midway" -- do you mean the portal lets you upload proof "along the way" or to expect to be asked to provide proof during processing?

Yes, put an estimated date / target date. They know that these are estimates.

You can do all of these. Upload concrete info if you have at some point later (esp if you move to Canada during the process) - but only concrete info.

And be prepared that yes, it is quite likely that IRCC will ask for some further evidence that you've proceeded/continued to prepare from the date you submitted.
