Hello every one: Please advise me on this issue.

I have to submit my application under CEC soon, I didnt have BC since it was not issued when i was born, however i have secondary school certificate with my father name on it. I am wondering whether it can be submitted as a proof. And I am also planing to take Affidavit from a canadain lawyer. Please suggest me ,
I can submit the affidavit which is taken in Canada or I have to get the affidavit only from my country.

Thanks
Anmed

affidavit is not enough depends on ur home country, i am from india so the place u were born they hav birth and death registry and u hav to get a letter from them that they hav or dont hav ur record .this is absolutly imp document and without it dont file ur pr as they will ask for it later anyway

if you did not provide birth certificate your application will be return to you ,,its happen to me....u must submit birth certificate ,,,,,,

Thanks for u suggestions,

What if we unable to get the BC, at the time of birth , govt didnt issue the BC.
I am having my school certificate and it is English having my father's name. What u guys think will it not be sufficient along with affidavit?

Earlier they used to accept dob certificate issued by CGI. But nowadays if u r not attaching proper birth certificates there is a high chance of rejection

Try to get birth certificate. In the worst case if you are unable to produce bc, then submit an affidavit.

Thanks Millindpr and evryone

I am in a simillar situation as your. I have submitted following documents:

1. Certificate of Birth issued from High commision
2. High school ceritificate ( only has DOB no father's name) and Higher secondary school certificate ( Has father's name but no date of birth)
3. Marriage certificate ( has father's name and date of birth)

still to get the feedback from CIC. finger crossed.
I don't have anything else. I was born in a village and birth certificate term does not exist there :)

Why can u produce an affidavit?

I can produce an affidavit but i am hoping CIC will accept these documents with a hand written explaination letter.
If they return the application i will submit the affidavit.

Hi Friends,
Is there any member, submitted notary affidavits from both parents and a close relative( e.g. I came to know US accept those) as proof of DOB due to nonavailability of birth certificate?
Please write your recent experience. Is there any rejection case for submission of affidavits from parents? Then it will be helpful for us who don't have DOB certificate. We can ask our parents to prepare those from home country.
Please share your experience.
Thanks
CS

Affidavit will totally work. Below is an excerpt from letter from CIC regarding Birth certificate:

PLEASE NOTE, WE DO NOT ACCEPT PASSPORTS AS PROOF OF BIRTH, THEREFORE WE ARE UNABLE TO
ACCEPT DETAILS FROM PASSPORT. WE DO ACCEPT SECONDARY SCHOOL RECORDS THAT CONTAIN THE

FOLLOWING:

1) APPL|CANT'S NAME

2) DATE OF BIRTH
3) NAME OF PARENT/PARENTS

IF YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO PROVIDE A BIRTH CERTIFICATE WITH ALL 3 CRITERIA, WE REQUIRE AN
AFFIDAVIT STATING ALL OF THIS INFORMATION OR THAT A BIRTH CERTIFICATE CANNOT BE ATTAINED.

Hi
Does this mean a copy of high school certificate stating all 3 informations mentioned above should be accepted by CIC for CEC PR application. My husband doesn't have a birth certificate and getting it from India is going to take long time.
Do we still need to attach an affidavit along with high School certfificate??
Please let me know
Thanks

I think, if the SSC contains your name, father name and DOB, that should be fine to submit. Along with this you can submit an affidavit.
I sent my application with both. I have taken affidavit in Canada.

Good luck!!
