Hello everyone,

I did a search on the board, and I couldn't find an answer I was looking for.
I am trying to sponsor my wife. We just got married this November after 5 years of relationship.
I came to Canada as a dependent child in 1996, then I became a naturalized Canadian citizen in 2003.
For a question #9 from IMM5540, it asks "Are you a naturalized Canadian or permanent resident of Canada?". So I checked on "Yes". Then it asks "On what date did you become a permanent resident?"
the problem is that I don't remember exact date I became permanent resident. My PR paper was removed when I got a Canadian citizenship. What information should I put here? Is it enough to put a year only?

Also, for question #14 "Has your spouse/partner met any of your close friends or family?", I don't exactly remember dates either. I can only remember month and year at most. Is it okay to put a month and year only for this question?

Thank you so much for your help in advance.

For your first question: Perhaps you have old papers or old passports that have the date? If not, call CIC and ask hem what you should do.

For your second question: Ask your familymembers. If nobody remembers exactly, and old emails or text messages agreeing on visits don't help, try to make an educated guess that you, your partner and your family member/friend agree is a likely date. What helped me a lot, is to check when I entered Canada, because I did remember during which visit I met which family members and friends. I also remembered in some cases how long after my arrival or before departure I met them. In other cases I found old emails that helped me remember.

You can apply for a request verification of landing from your local CIC office. There is a fee of about $30. You will need this in the future to apply for pensions so you may want to do this me and keep the information somewhere safe for future use in addition to the application you are submitting now.

Thank you for the help people. I will contact CIC for this matter.

For the second question,
I tried suggested methods, but I still can't remember exact dates as it's more than 3 years old.
I guess I will just write a note saying that I can't really remember the dates as it happened too long ago. I will just be honest.

Thank you.

#2 Month and year is fine. I did that and had no problems.
