I have been disqualified from driving in the past by the virtue of dangerous driving (excessive speeds). Is this a driving offense or a criminal offense and if so is it going to affect the criminal check prior to being issued with a visa.

I'm a UK citizen.

Criminal offence, maximum sentence of 5 years on indictment, see: http://laws.justice.gc.ca/eng/C-46/page-6.html#anchorbo-ga:l_VIII-gb:s_249 Section 249.1 Eligible for rehabilitation 5 years after the completion of the sentence. see: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english//information/applications/guides/5312E4.asp#tphp%20idtphp Deemed rehabilitated if sentence was completed over 10 years ago.
