I called CIC yesterday and they told me that the old files are still in Syria. The embassy is not going to close. So why transfer the files?

I specifically asked " are you transferring all the files from Damascus to Ottawa ? " and she said "Yes"
I honestly think they have to do it by scan ; how else could they send the files electronically ?!!!!

That's impossible
They can't scan each file with the supporting documents of that file
It will take them years to do it and will cost them much more.
They won't transfer old documents because that doesn't make sense.

The visa office is Damascus. I will ask her today if they filled the RQ.

What kind of queue is that? they need to do something about it man. it is ridiculous

By the way my application has been in process in Damascus for 10 months and 5 days
Hopefully the processing time won't go up because I want to send them a case specific inquiry when my application reaches 11 months of processing in Damascus

for your interest:

based on the limited data we have I can speculate that the files from countries in a better relation with Canada such as Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, etc. are being sent to Ottawa, however those from Syria and Iran are still being sent to Damascus.

In our case, I sponsored my wife from Iran. They received the application in Missisuga on June 1, 2011 and sent it to Damascus.

Another parameter would be the number of applicants from each country. Maybe they kept all Iranian and Syrian cases specialists in Damascus and called the other specialists back in Ottawa.

Any other speculations?

I really don't think they would keep Iranian and Syrian files separate from others. The link you sent shows that their file was approved early July , basically way passed your approval time. It coincides with people whose files have been sent to Ottawa. Early July is exactly when they have started to send back the files to Ottawa.
I believe if there's danger in Syria , all the officers would be excused and not just those working on specific files; it would simply not be fair to others.
Anyhow I really wish this processing mess is over soon, it does not matter where; all that we all wish is that it won't at least take longer than normal timing.

Hello Guys,

Hope all are well :-)

Why am I hearing that the Damascus is closing down from some solid sources? is it really? whaa izzz goin onnnn

hello everyone,what is going on?
is the embassy closing?so what will happen to our files?!wish it does not happen, because in the case of quebec skilled workers,I know that when the quebec office was closed they transfered all files to montreal and they called off the interviews and as far as I am concerned there is no news of the files and no one has been called for interview !so there is a big delay for these applicants, hope it will not happen.
