You can get osap and you can study any where in the world

ur half right. One got do at least 2 yrs in Canada and obtain pretty high GPA (Grade point average), then request that from his/her university. It is called Ontario Student Exchange Program. As I recall you should get A- , not too sure .

I have never heard of GPA requirement for a student loan. It's not hard to google detailed info though.

it's great source of income for government. interest rate of %5 is higher than prime rate in fact. you can buy a car with %2 interest.

student loan is a good opportunity for those who are in their early twenties and have plenty of time to pay it back.

im a little confused though. you seem to be the sponsored person, so why you should worry about supporting your family? your sponsor has committed for that already. when you land in canada, you may apply for a university admission first. then you can student loan to cover your tuition + a very inferior student life. if your sponsor has a car and house already, you will qualify for less amount. (it used to be up to $15k max per year).

moreover, there are many schools which accept part time students. you can always both work and study at the same time.

you need high GPA if you want to get a loan from Canadian government AND study in some other country. Trust me on that, my brother went through it....not sure if they changed it...

Mikey, my friend... GPA don't matter if you want to get a student loan from Canada or the province you live in. I am not too sure what your brother is going through, but you trust me you are getting wrong information, change your sources.
As far as I am concerned GPA don't matter in studying in another country either. If you are a PR or a Canadian citizen, you could apply for different exchange programs or just apply for other countries and just obtain a student visa. And in Yaya's case doesn't he have to stay in Canada for 3 years before he could exit the country for a long period of time?

Oh also, we don't have A- in Canada as far as I know.

All you need is an admission letter then you can apply for the loan

HI MY FRIEND

Where are you? our topic is very silent

My wife tel to cic and talk with them
She said all application of Syria send to otawa and processing time is same as Damascus
Its bad because we dont have any information about otawa? do you have any news about this?

THANK YOU

My aaplication was sent to Ottawa but I heard its abt 1 month shorter than damascus, because usually all applications are sent through diplomatic mail to Syria and that takes at least 1 month....that's what i have been told by my lawyer.....i hope it gets done faster..

@ htraboul: i think if our cases were transferred to ottawa they would have notified us.

@ lello: it doesn't take a month for the applications to be received in damascus, like mine only took 8 days. i was looking at our chart and saw that files are received by damascus way less than a month.

hope everyone receives great news very soon! yaaaaaaaay! :)

Actually, it took from June 13 to July 4 (21 days) for my wife application to reach Ottawa after I was approved as a sponsor.

eyval vivi jan, nice chart :D

i doubt that all files are sent to ottawa, that would mean everyone would start from 0, since the immigration officers in ottawa have no information about the case, as you guys said, NEW files are being sent to ottawa but old ones are still in damascus, they cant afford to change it

i agree only new cases r sent there
