I am talking about 15 years ago when I got my student visa. It took me 3 months to get my visa. You will get your visa in a few months and in my opinion you should not complicate your file.

u know? i dont' think it really matters because the time of processing starts from the day they receive the file and not from the day they start working on it. in the cic site, it's said that the average time is 11 months from the day they receive it, it means even if they start working on our file after 4 months, they shouldn't b late...

I heard from my lawyer that if all police checks and ur file is complete with no missing docs, the application for ppl coming from lebanon is no more than 6 months. and he had finished to cases where the ppl came in 4 months. so that's a relief for many. Also i was told that if applications are sent to Ottawa instead of Syria the timing is much faster.... so good luck to all of you. I started my app in May, got sponsorship approval first week of June... and I was assured by Oct Nov my husband will be here.
So maybe there is a light down the road afterall.

My lawyer was the one to go to the Mississauga Office, but since he knew the girl that works there, she looked over the app and told him what was missing so anyways I know papers were sent in May 2011, i got granted sponsership June 8, 2011, they advise me that my file was already in Ottawa for processing and since then i havent heard anything, but my lawyer said after 6 weeks from June i should get another file #....so not sure now what is the next step....

You are 5 days ahead of me, you will reach the next step few days before me (Please till me when it happens)

I think in the next step, they will ask the person being sponsored to fill some forms, and provide any missing or updated information or documents. Im expecting that to happen in august or September.

ofcourse my friend, because you agreed to take care of the person you are sponsoring for 3 years so they dont seek government assistance and if you are residing in another country its going to make it all more difficult, i say you wait till your wife comes and then make the decision, its a critical stage right now, anything can change the case in a big way, i mean here in the immigration office i work, they give SUCH A HARD time to people from the US living here on PR , i dont know why but hey i guess they do that to canadian in the us so ,

I heard that in the Canadian Embassy they have laid off few ppl just to save money. I just finished talking to my lawyer. So the process is still faster than Damascus but slower that the few months past. hhhhh i know they are more harsh and strict with the immigration process.

Abdo: I will keep u updated if i receive anything, but did u check yet ur client ID to see ur file on the internet, cause mine is still not listed on the internet as being processed. I heard Ottawa does not list anything on the internet.

It shows that the application for permanent residence was received on July 4, 2011. Try ur receipt number, or any file number the sponsor has used in the past.

For me, the file number i used before a year to get my skilled worker PR works, but the client ID they gave me doesn't .

Im still in lebanon and still no news for us. I sent them an email over a week ago about my husbands medical which will expire on aug 24 but still no reply. Im leaving on august 2nd and still praying for my husband to come with me inshallah!!:-(

2- I want to study in USA I heard it is better, and in Canada consider it more than Canadian ( strange). Can I have OSAP as well as to study in USA.
