Damascus/Spousal since Jan 2010 or late 2009

Hey Everyone,

It turns out that my file was in damascus since aug 25th and today I got email from them requesting : 1) Marriage cert. from ministry of interior and 2) Family list that shows me and my wife as married couple from ministry of interior. My wife got excited and anxious at the same time. She doesnt know where to go and what to do; whether they would want me to be in syria physically or not etc. We are afraid that it may take long to get these documents from our past experience but I hope not his time. Is there anyone who has gone through this and is able to guide us ?

As I am iranian I can not help with this issue because the procedure is completely different from country to country.
There are lots of our Arabian friends here in this forum which received the same letter as you did. I am sure they will kindly help you.
could you please give your time line so we can share and help our people estimate how long their case may take long ?
1. when did you send your file to damascus ?
2. when did damascus start processing your file ?

Can you remember I told you that you will receive a letter shortly ?! I am happy that my estimation was true at least in your case !!!

Hi Rezan,

My application was received by miss. on july 14th, on ecas it says they started processing on aug 25 and today damascus requested for additional docs.

well first of all did you get married in syria?
if yes ,first you have to get the marriage paper from the institution that you got married to damascus the ministry of internal affaires they have a floor that they deal with marriage certificate they will give you papers and tell you what to do i think there will be a court if your spouse or you is a canadian citizen rather syrian in that case you need a preauthorization from the internal ministry after the decision of the court you take the paper to the same place and they will issue a marriage certificate i think all this it could take 1 to 3 months ,but if you both are syrian and got married in syria it will take you a max of one week to get the certificate.

Today my wife received a call from the embassy in damascus asking her to submit her passport, the visa will be valid up to october 23 which is our medical expiry date.

I think I did all that already. I am a Canadian and she is a syrian. We got married in syria. It took us 3 months to get permission from وزارة الداخلية
الشؤون العائلية . Then my wife and I went to court to get married and got our marriage certificate, which we submitted with our applciation. 1 to 3 more months ???

then there shouldnt be a waiting time dont worry not 1-3 months
then you just take عقدالزواج to damascus to the internal ministry and request a family book and a new marriage certificate it should be routine ,good job you already finished the hard part dont worry shas44
well my case is a bit different i got married in canada i am a syrian citizen and my wife a canadian still they didint ask from me a syrian marriage certificate and i hope they will not becasue i have a canadian marriage certificate and if they ask ohhh god help me and my wife ehehehe well good luck . i suggest to your wife that she can go to a مكتب معاملات and for sure they will know better.
and if you submitted the syrian marriage certificate it is really wierd that they are asking again and make sure you send them the family book .

Hello YayaMarie, actually no one knows exactly what they are doing each case is different and each officer process the file differnet than the other so you just have to give them some time and hopefully soon they will contact you if they need anything to finish your file
