A biiiiig congratzzzz...another july inprocess... What day in july did ur status change to inprocess???
As for the hotel... The king cankaya hotel is a good option just walking distance to the embassy and they provide a promotional price for people who Are visiting the embassy...it is 65 USD plus breakfast...

** UPDATE **
My wife submitted her passport today. She said she's seen people submitting their parents' or their children's passports with no problem. There's been an announcement for Iranians --> the person submitting/collecting passports must present his/her own passport.

It seems my sources were not as accurate as I thought. Sorry for the inaccurate information. I'd still say it's worth a few hundred bucks to go to the embassy yourselves rather than risking the loss of your passport after such long waiting time.
