Hbehmane, this week or next week, that would be my idea, but the real things God knows.Buddy your situation better than me because you got GSMC, for me I do not have any update.

A quick question:
I requested option C printout of my last notice of assessment (from CRA) and when I looked at it, it says marital status: single! Then it hit me should I update my marital status here in Canada before applying for wifey? ???
Any ideas?

mediGol honestly urs should be very similar 2 mine, think about there is nothing really important that i was waiting for this note except the security screening and they are waiting 4 this stage 4 urs as well. so our file should be very similar 2 mine i assume unless ur documents are not fully complete.

you dont need to do it...when u file for your partners taxes the year she is here...it will automatically be updated with canada revenue agency....if you were to do it now...it will complicate your taxes for the upcoming year...

lol he already has a lawyer so why not his lawyer doing that

As long as you are paying enough tax to CRA they are happy. But you can do something to pay less tax now that you are married:
- Give new and updated TD forms with claim for spouse credit to your employer so they will deduct less tax starting the next payroll cycle.
- If you wife does not move to Canada by December then in Feb you can still claim the spousal credit as you are married. The only difference is that your wife will not fill for taxes as she is not in Canada yet.

Basically the spousal credit has no condition on where the spouse is living.

Hope this helps.
