Guys,
does anybody know if the processing time would be different from the files who have been transferred to Ankara than the files who have been sent directly to Ankara? My file has been sent to Ankara on March 5th. Don't know if I should be expecting Damascus timeline or Ankara's. I'm sure Ankara's timeline has increased due to the huge volume of files but I couldn't find any info regarding the new files sent directly to Ankara.

I am a doctor, why they put me in queue ?? I will apply again as a doctor bitter than a wife of permenanet resident :P ridiculous process

I know a lady, who is a PEDIATRIC SPECIALIST PHYSICIAN and has been working for the biggest pediatric hospital in the middle east; but has still been waiting to be re-united with her husband for almost two years!!!

Is there a higher occupation than her occupation?!

Laleh,

Wait till April 25th. Cic is supposed to update the processing time table quarterly.
I think at the end, those whose files are directly sent to Ankara will benefit from a faster processing time. Believe me, at the moment even Jason Kenny can't answer ur question! :P

Thanx Siavash,
Let's hope so. Seems like he's unable to provide any answers what so ever at the moment :P

no offence but isnt family membs more important than docs...we need our spouses here not docs unless canada is trying to have all of us go insane and bring over some docs to cure us...why isnt canada allowing more students into the med schools here and have our own docs...instead of bringing overseas docs, where they will not be given a job...not fair to anyone..this system needs some serious shake/make over!! >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

I don't believe any statement from CIC , do you think they mean what they say?? do you think they really need doctors in Canada ?? there are hundreds of doctors in Canada working as pizza delivery and as cab driver, because they put huge difficulties and obstacles to prevent the immigrant doctors getting licence to work as doctor in Canada,I say what I say about apply as doctor better than wife to be sarcastic on what CIC announce in there site.

Hi laleh,

Someone earlier posted a notification from the Ankara embassy saying something that I think indicated recent files could take longer than the 5 months.

No response yet to the questions to Jason Kenney that the Huffington Post said they would choose the best of and give his answers.

If nothing by early tomorrow afternoon, I'll see if I can send them a message to make sure they don't overlook it, as I think they may have gotten a surprise from the big turnout of all the spousal sponsorship applicants being upset with the process!

Thanks Jay,
It seems logical to think that it would take more than 5 months but I was wondering if they've announced anything so we know what to expect. I guess we're going to have to wait till April 25th to find out.

Highlights of his response:

"Q: We received many reports that the wait time to process spousal immigration applications has increased in recent months. Particularly for applicants currently residing in Syria and other Middle Eastern countires. What is driving this backlog and is the government doing anything to address it?

A: We had to shut down our embassy in Syria. There's a war going on there, a civil war. We had to close our embassy and our immigration office, which was our main hub for the Middle Eastern region and we've had to move most of those employees up to Ankara (Turkey), some to Beirut (Lebanon). So we'll try to get on top of that, but because of the closure of our office, that's one of those unforeseen circumstances you can't really plan for."

"Typically on a global basis we process spousal sponsorship applications in under 12 months, in some places it becomes more difficult, where there are higher rates of fraud."

"And we have a huge problem with fraudulent immigration marriages around the world. In fact, a couple of years ago we identified that 50 per cent of the spousal sponsorship applications coming out of China to our Hong Kong office were fake."

"My apologies to the folks from Syria that are waiting, we'll try to get to those applications."
