Why is everyone mentioning Ankara? After reading the statement about the Syria office being closed on the CIC website, I called CIC in Canada (I'm currently visiting my spouse in Toronto while my application is being processed) that's why I was able to call the inland number. They told me that Jordan is responsible for processing our files now. There was no mention of Ankara Turkey? So I'm confused as to why it is being mentioned here. Mississauga sent us a letter notifying us that they started processing my file on the 30th of September 2011 and my husband was eligible to sponsor me and that my application was forwarded to Syria. Now, has anyone else received this letter only to find out that their file is still in Mississauga? Any feedback regarding this situation would be most appreciated. I don't know how to find out if they really did send my file to Syria. It's worrying me that others found out their file is still in Mississauga. Just curious, has anyone talked to the visa office in Jordan?

See the chart here:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2012/ob380.asp

Applicants in… Applications should be submitted to…
Syria, Jordan and Iraq Visa Office in Amman (Jordan)
Lebanon Visa Office in Beirut (Lebanon)
Cyprus Visa Office in Tel Aviv (Israel)
Iran Visa Office in Ankara (Turkey)

Thank you for the above link, I missed it while visiting the CIC website earlier...
I'm a resident of Cyprus, does that mean the processing will be quick? So worried...

yes ayad! i love how you are expressing yourself lol

man i agree with everything you say, things are pretty confusing and messed up. if i can just be certain that my file is in Amman, i will be very relaxed because i know "someone" is working on it. however, i don't know if the agent will resume from the application where it was left off or will they start from the beginning?; i mean that wouldn't make sense would it? ahhh...

anyways bro lets just hang in there, i know us iraqis don't have lots of patience :P

ya man ive been patient but now its gone to far how long have u been waiting and wher is your wife and where are u from cuz it cuz it makes a difference
i dont know what to do anymore

I'm in the same mood as u today Ayad! I havent seen my husband for almost 15 months and my heart hurts today... and I was so excited about Ankara yesterday but now I am thinking all current files are all together at a new VO (Lebanon?) and will take 14 mths and the new VO distribution is for NEW files only .... I wish they would make things clear:( I just want my husband and my kids to have their Baba back! Please God hears our pleas.... bring us all back together with our loved ones....

Hi A+M

you have to know that processing time is a statistics
processing time shows that 80% application in last year how long does it take? and Operational Bulletin was clear :

Applications in-Process

Applications currently in process in Damascus have been transferred to the new responsible visa office
if you look at Responsible for immigrant applications of Turkey embassy:
Azerbaijan, Georgia, Iran, Turkey, Turkmenistan

IT IS VERY CLEAR

I think we haven't processing time for Jordan and Beirut after 1 year

I am well aware that processing times are a statistic;)

thank u soooooo much for making it CLEAR for me. I did
not see the bulletin, only the update for Damascus.. which I found confusing but u are right the bulletin is CLEAR...

Lol really lol.....it's like riddle.....Samira joon u've already waited for 6 months. (43% of the process in Damascus). So u have already completed 2 months of the processing time in Ankara (Knowing that process in turkey is only 5 months)
So with a simple calculation if we say they start working on ur file on march, u should receive ur visa around June.

hi,
so depressed, 14 month

Lele,

Damascus night mare is over. u may ask, now that damascus is closed why they r announcing the processing time?
They have to announce the average processing time as an internal procedure for all the visa offices which were active during the last 12 months......Even if it's 20 months, it's not our concern anymore. Don't worry.

Thank-you for this amazing response!! I knew it was nothing to worry about, but you had the reasoning behind it :D Our files are being worked on at different VO's now, we should all be happy and not 'depressed' anymore. This is really good news :D

Two thumbs up for the opposition Syrians who forced Damascus visa office to speed up the process by sending our files to other visa offices!!!lol
