Hello everyone
I have been following all the news in this room, and congrats for those who got their visas and good luck for those who are waiting. I am one of the two that files were sent to Ottawa and since then never heard of. My application for step one was recvd June 6, and step 2 for PR it still says recvd July 4. No clue if my application ever made it to Syria. I have called and the office says they will have no answer for me if application is in Ottawa. which makes no sense. I called my lawyer and he said to expect visa in the first 6 months of 2012. This is taking for ever. When I applied the waiting time was 9 months...but it s funny that now that is 13 months, does this mean my files would fall under this category.
Just a quick question, CIC office in Mississauga recvd my file in May 2011, and as I understand on the website it clearly says your application takes 13 months from the day recvd in our office. What office, Mississauga or is it when it arrives to Syria or Ottawa, or is it 13 months from step 2, cause there is a difference of abt 4-6 months....its ridiculous :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

we have to count the 13 months from the day which Syria receives our complete packet. So it means at the moment the whole process time is 68 days + 13 months. And it seems that this waiting time is rising every day!

Exactly. The processing time for step one and two are counting separate.
Did not you have any contact info for Ottawa?

I applied for my husband 6 months ago. We got married in june. I sent the application in August. The website at that time said step 1 takes 58 days but I got the letter in 55 days. So that was in Ocober. In the same letter the said they are
sending it to Syria. Just afew days ago I called the call center to change phone nemuber and I found out that my application is not yet sent to Syria. still in Canada. It should have been sent 3 months ago(october). The lady told me maybe because syria is unsafe. Now I hear from people here that they are sending files to Turkey. I am guessing they have stopped sending new files to Syria until the older ones are transferred.
I want to know if there are people here that applied same time as me. I mean applied in mid August and got approval for the first step in October and have any news about where their file is now.

Weird that you are the second person mentioning this in the last few days! I guess this proves that at some point even though in the sponsorship approval letter it was mentioned that the file will be transferred to syria, it never did.
A few days ago, another member "Tina85" said that she got her approval on November 24 but recently she has spoke to a call center agent and found out that her file is still in Mississauga. I guess because of all this transferring issue they have stopped sending new files to Syria since October ... Anyway don't worry, you are not the only one with this issue, as I said like we know Tina85 has the same issue. And as some A+M said all these issues might cause a little delay at first, but in the long run your files will be treated faster hopefully after the transfer to somewhere else. Best wishes.

I did have a number to call in Ottawa, and when I clld, the person advised me that they are not able to answer anything if file is in Ottawa only if it is in Syria, which doesnt make sense, cause you will think that their system is connected within Ontario. So sad to hear this, so I called my lawyer and he said there is no way of finding out we just have to wait. HHHHH its really bizarre this whole process. How do they expect 2 newly weds to stay far away from each other for this long...i mean relationship for over 6 months being apart is just not a relationship...

Lello, I completely know where you`re coming from! Everyone here shares your same confusion, frustration and anger! Kind of been there and done that! I understand that it is hard to say that you just need to wait until the embassy does the transferring and advises us, because after that it will be clear where your file is. Meanwhile, I think you should contact your MP and explain the situation, they can get you a file number or at least tell you better than anyone where your file is.
The whole closing of the embassy thing should be announced this coming week and finalized by the end of January like the US embassy. Which means that by the end of this month many things would be more certain. This process is extremely and utterly draining on one`s relationship as it affects every aspect of it. I`m not going to go into the cliche of having faith and hope, but in all honesty that`s about the main thing that absolutely everyone needs to do. Best wishes to all!

nooo, i think it was one of the least productive months for members here...since Christmas, almost 1 month now, just Wardeh got it and U!!!!! and there was another but not member here (wife of friend of cousin or something like that, someone heard of someone else and shared it here , sorry but i don't remember the name)...i think others got it though but probably less than 1 year ago (due to circumstances we already know and no need to mention again)...inshallah all this is just temporary and better times r just around the corner

I don't know if that is going to delay the process since they might keep the files until they figure out where to send them.

There is so much confusion at the moment that even CIC employees can't tell u whats going on. My recommendation is to be patient and follow the news to see whats going on. I'm also waiting to see whats going on, my medical will be expired exactly in 30 days and then I don't know where should I send the new one!.......change of visa office is not necessarily a bad thing, maybe in the beginning it causes some delay but in the long run it will compensate the lost time. U r a passport holder, so be with ur hubby and enjoy ur life and be sure that one way or another Canada will issue the visa for him.

my husband's medicals will be expired in a month exactly too! lol! and i guess we can't redo them ourselves unlike other people did before, cuz we won't know where to send it! i'm pretty sure we will all get some emails in this week and the week after
