My wife is returning to Canada on Tuesday......I'm really down.
Why it is so time consuming for Damascus to issue the visa for us? This was her third flight during last 14 months from Canada to Iran!! I hope next time instead of her giving me a visit, I get the ticket to Canada.
By the way I heard from a friend that Damascus is going to transfer all the cases to another visa office. Anyone heard anything?

Siavashf, Greetings! I hope you make it to the new home (Canada) soon. I am a newbie here. I have browsed here quite a lot. But I am just starting to post comments. Reading different threads make me really stressed. I am a newly-married and staying here in Iran till my husband gets his immigration. We don't want to be away from each other. Now, my question to you is, why is it taking you so long to get your papers? is it normal to wait 14 months plus to get an answer??

Hi Imatra,

welcome here.
No i have not received my PPR yet but i hope good news will come very soon.
Please tell us about your time line. When did you apply?
Here you can share your experiences with other Iranian and also other applicants who are waiting for a light from Damascus.
Feel free to ask your questions. We are here to help each other.

Arezou jan, in my case, I am the sponsor. I decided to stay in Iran with my husband until he gets his papers and we go back together. I sent my application at the end of December 2011. The courier website showed that CIC-M received my application on January 4, 2012. Browsing through various threads, it seems we have a looooooong way to go. I'm just glad we are with each other, so I think my situation is not as tough as some of you guys. I hope you guys get your papers very very soon. Any advice for us?

Dear Imatra,

You just starting this waiting game. You need first 68 days for your first step approval and then you need 13 month at least for second step's approval. But it is a chance for and your husband that can live together. So I think that it will never hurt you as us.

Was a bit less complicated for me as I'm in Canada so I only needed to send in IMM5563, whereas someone not in Canada would have their Canadian spouse send a consent form filled out by the person abroad, $5, and the IMM5563. Even waiting the 1 month, yes, it's very much worth it when the alternative is just untimely, unreliable, and really undetailed e-cas. I received my third set of notes recently and finally I was able to see them write that we met in a chatroom online, the relationship appears to be bona fide, and the IO is suggesting the interview be waived, among other information about the processing.

Thanks Arezou ... Wow, so I'm looking at the beginning of Summer of 2013 (if nothing goes wrong of course!)... I might not as well bother myself with counting days and months and relax and enjoy my time here. I am wondering what are the most common mistakes that could be done in this route? Any idea?

Dear Imatra,

The waiting time is different from case to case. Here we have friends who are waiting from November 2010. So nobody knows what is going on Damascus. No news. We are waiting.
At least you are not alone and it is a big chance.

Indeed. I think I've read enough here to know that anything can happen with CIC (read: they are anything but consistent). And you know what? They're not about to notice anything, much less do anything about it, unless they're prompted to. Which makes me think that perhaps it took that long because the person HAD NOT initially noticed that the posted step 1 processing time had come and gone and he had heard squat from the folks in Ontario.

i know but i focused on outland, spouse/partner class :) but u know i heard once of one guy who still had no news from Missisauga after 8 months!!!! they either lost his file or misplaced it...but it's very rare and hope it won't happen to anyone EVER AGAIN!!!!
