Damascus/Spousal since Jan 2010 or late 2009

Hi everyone!

My spousal sponsorship application was received in Damascus on April 19. At what point will Damascus contact us again? Will they send us a letter giving the file number soon? Or they don't?!

welcome viva...yes u`ll recieve ur file number as a letter if ur address that they have is right....

nagz if u didn`t recieve it becuase ur address was wrong that they have...

welcome vivi2, dont worry about the file number too much, as nagz said, some people get it some dont, i didnt get it either, a couple months after my wife's file arrived in damascus i sent them an email asking a general question and when they replied her file number was there, so yeah , its not too big of a deal

hahah mamnoon, you are the first one who said anything, maybe baghiye farsi balad naboodan bekhoonan but yeah dont worry too much about the file number, when a little bit of time goes by you can even email them your self and say i just wanted to know my file number, it starts with B followed by 9 number B XXX XXX XXX, Good luck

Ok, thanks agha Sohrab a lot for your help. I was asking about the file number because me and my husband were thinking of submitting the completion of his military service before they ask us for it and saving some time this way! I really don't know how a good idea this would be! But without a file number I don't think sending in any documents would be a good idea!

dear viva we completed it before having our filenumber and sent all documents ...lol...they have not wanted any additional documents untill now..but i think maybe this will not faster the proccess at least for us it didn`t work i think...lol

you know what niagra, you might be right, because they send the file number to the person BEING SPONSORED, so maybe they tried sending it to my wife and it never got there since her address was wrong on the page, but who cares we have it anyway haha, the funny thing is they told me they didnt mail anything, anyways who cares about that haha nooo sara dear, no freaking newsss yet!

Since we don't trust Iran's post and mailing system at all, my husband's mailing address is my mailing address in Canada as well. So we hope to get the letter one day!

I actually was hoping they use email as a way of communication, not snail mail!

Do I have to check with Damascus or it is normal and takes time?

dear friend , dont worry about a letter, its not important, if you read a bit you will see alot of us didnt get letters, its not a big deal ,when they contact you for any reason your file number will be included, but dont worry your file is in queue

vivi jan there is not such thing as mail haha, trust me the MAIN method of communication is EMAIL unless you dont include an email address in your application, they RARELY mail anything, in fact the only times you need to use the MAIL is to send it the RQ ( you can email it also ) and the PPR, thats it, ORRR if you are missing documents

u should check with them..if they work normaly these days u must recieve it now...so send them an email..i think u can even call them for getting ur file number,,,,

yes sohrab is right....exept file number and approval of the sponsorship the others will come via email..so dont worry....file number is just for checking ur ecas and konw when they start ur proccessing...

Hey guys,

Damascus embassy received my spousal sponsorship application on April 5, 2011. I haven't received any update from them yet. How long do you think it usually takes to start processing application? I'm on edge and worried about situation in Syria. Canada has changed level of warning to "avoid all travel to Syria" !!!!!!
