Hi everyone my sponsorship file was received on july 7th and approved on september 9th.I am alittle bit nervous now because i see some people that have applied after me have been given their visas. Should i be worried? the last updates that i have are on june 6th "in process" and then "medical results have been received".When i compare my file and situation with most people here , i should have heard something by now. Please anyone thats been threw what im going right now help with any advice!!!! anyone with experience who has already been to ankara or has received an email to go to ankara let me know how you process was and how long you waited. thanks
Don't worry... Your case sounds normal. Some people are lucky and are finished the process but the majority of original Damascus applicants wait at least one year from the date the file reaches visa office. (which would be September for you) the processing times for Damascus are 14 months do u are in the normail processing time until November. I'm sure you will hear something by then. There are exceptions of people waiting longer... Like Kazhal who also responded and myself as well as others who are waiting more than 15 months since our files reached Damascus. (add sponsorship approval and we' be been waiting 17,18,19 months. It's a good sign that you see your ecas says in process. I'm sure you will hear news in early fall if not sooner;)

There doesn't seem to be a correlation..... It's ranged from a few days to a few months and I believe There was one person who had it say in process since last nov/dec.

I know the feeling!!! When I finally saw in process on ecas 14 months after our file reached Damascus I was in tears. And when we got the email last week saying they were about to finalize our application I called my husband crying, he thought something was wrong! :):)
I can't imagine how many happy tears will fall if we ever see that wonderful PPR email!!
I think the files that went directly to turkey are much luckier than those of us that we transferred from Damascus. Hopefully the Damascus ones are wrapped up soon!! I think the ones sent directly to turkey will see a MUCH shorter processing time.... Probably within the 6 months processing time for turkey. I'm sure you will have good news soon:)

Lol... Nice to see some excitement on here!! Ours changed to in process on June 28. We had contacted our MP a few days prior to that because we were over the 14 months processing time. They replied to our MP that they needed a few additional documents. We had to get a fingerprint check done by rcmp which took a few weeks. They received the requested documents on July 26 and on the 31 we got another email that started out saying "we are about to finalize your family class sponsorship ...." I'm hoping "about to finalize" means within a few weeks:):):):):):):) and I hope finalize means approve :p

I really really hope so. The immigration process is not linear at all. Often it is good to be optimistic but we should consider some facts too. Based on what I saw in this forum since last year and my friend's experience in family category and other categories I think here the "In Process" condition is different for new applicants and the ones their application were transferred from Damascus or Mississauga (July-Jan 2011 applicants) after VO closure. I remember some people got their PPR only after a few days they saw "In Process". These people were those who waited long times (11-14 months). There are others who got PPR after 2-3 month with waiting times around 9-11 month. A few days or a few months after "In Process" is really depend on your file (the applicant, documents, etc). I am not sure but I think "In Process" condition is when the officer requests the background check for new applicants. Maybe for old applicant, during the transfer they requested the background check and now they just finalize it and this is why for them is much more quicker.

Anyways, this process is not linear at all so I think we should keep our hope and remain realistic otherwise it will hurt our feelings a lot.

There is lots of different opinions on redoing the medicals... Especially with the new rules. We redid ours without being asked. I figure it's a couple hundred dollars to make sure there is no delay in being asked for it. I thought it was worth. But that was before the new rules...

thank you for your detailed response...at least it shows they have our physical files in hand...i can only hope the sooner the better...but i agree there are lots of files submitted before ours who are in process....but any news is good news:)
