I think you have to renew it, coz most of the times, when they send you ppr letter, it is mentioned that your passport should be valid for at least one year, so do it as soon as you can. good luck

Yes, definitely do it, as countries usually expect a minimum of 6 months remaining on your passport for them to admit you.
