A piece of good news to flavour your weekend!

My Wife's status changed to In Process:

"We started processing [FIRSTNAME LASTNAME]'s application on May 30, 2012."

Our file arrived Damascus on July 15, 2011. It was updated after Friday working hours, so seemingly an employee was working overtime.

So not all of the employees are like Sohrab ;)

On a serious note, my wife was so excited that woke me up after the midnight. I personally think it's not a big deal, as we have people whose status has been updated for a while with no PPR. I guess those are being sponsored are not very concerned about 2 months earlier or later, they just want to make sure if they can get PPR finally or not.

I explained to my wife that as a citizen of canada and sponsor I had no doubt that our case is going to be processed finally. There are some exceptions which take 2 or 3 years, but those are anomalies. My only concern is time. They must process the cases less than 4 months.

Try to take advantage of this delay and prepare yourself for the family life in Canada. More than 50% of the sponsorship cases tend to lead to divorce. Ask and remind yourself if it's too good to be true, perhaps it's not true. If you are a 60 year old guy and sponsoring an 18 year super model from Iran, you may get along, but at least accept that your case is high-risk.

I personally do my best to keep the relationship, but we have not lived together yet, so I am aware of the risks and I prepare myself.

Among my friends who have sponsored their spouses, I have found a common trend. Those come to Canada and get settled in 6 months, usually build a better family. Whether studying or working at pizza store doesn't matter. If your wife or husband stays at home for more than 6 months, most likely you are in trouble.

I would love to hear your experiences and ideas on this.

BTW, based on the new law, the sponsored people should stay married for about 2 years (I'm not sure) to get their permanent residency. If they separate before that, they may be deported. So be careful! ;)

Congrats, samira, and hope you get PPR soon, inshallah. I didn't mean to ignore what you said that I should be optimistic about the situation when I posted that article.

It's been 15 months of processing for me and as many months since I've seen my wife, and I know that success favours the prepared, so my focus is to generate awareness of our situation in being kept away from our spouses for too long, since change doesn't happen overnight.

All the best.

dirtypolitics, I hope your wife gets PPR soon, and thanks very much for your efforts with the political side of this issue.

I agree with your observations about the sponsored spouse having something to do outside the house soon after getting here, in order to adapt to the new and often very different lifestyle here with others who can help them out.

I hope soon for you too, A+M, as you are the most positive person on this forum given the responsibilities on your shoulders during your wait.

Aww JayJ... Thank you that was very sweet!! I try to stay positive, but it is getting harder. It's one thing to be away from your spouse but there's no reason to completed separate a child from their parent for over 1.5 years:( but everything for a reason and my time will come;) hopefully soon for all of us!!

Can someone please explain why Ankara VO answers my emails but never Amman VO ? My applicant is from Iraq originally..He requested to update his email address however when we signed on ECAS they updated it so we can change HOME address instead??? Hmm (we initially accidently emailed Ankara VO at the time because we didn't know where his file was transferred to...)

Change home address has always been there for most people. So , i don't think has anything to do with the email u sent.
So u said ankara vo answered ur emails. What did they say?
