Not trying to be a jerk here...but what do you mean by getting serious? Have you seen the text somewhere or just following the rumors?
Just following rumor articles like the one I shared. By serious I mean, its getting published on multiple websites daily.

Even I'm planning to visit Canada soon, so far I have not seen the executive order been signed. Not sure when it will be signed or not signed.

Hey guys, is the 14 days quarantine compulsory?

We were in the middle of our move from Detroit to Windsor when Covid-19 happened.
We have sold our house in Detroit and are planning to buy one in Windsor.
But the house hunting and related processes are all pending due to the border closure.

We did our soft landing last year and had obtained SIN.
We had opened a bank account too but never used it and it got closed, so need to reopen a new one.

All these activities can't be done from USA. But don't want to stay in Canada for 14 days as I have to go to work.
Will appreciate your inputs. Thanks.

Lawyers are not with us. We are just unlimited money making machines for them. In my opinion, TN visa will be spared as it a part of trade deal. I could be wrong.

Work travel should be okay

Actually I still live in the US. Haven't moved to Canada yet.
I plan to enter Canada for house hunting or opening a bank account. Do you think I will have to quarantine in Canada for 14 days?

Will they be tracking me, if I go to a bank branch or a showing?

Follow the rules, don't jeopardize other's health just for your non-critical needs.

We have been following the rules for the last 3 months and are still doing it.

Who are you to decide my needs are non-critical?
As a PR holder we need to be in Canada for a certain period of time.
I have already lost 1.5 years and this Covid-19 situation is delaying it further.

Get down from your high horse.
If you can give constructive advice, do it. If not, then stop passing around your judgement.
Even we are trying to move to Windsor this July. From whatever I've gathered by speaking to some folks in Windsor, the Canadian officials are calling up multiple times to ensure recent entrants/visitors are complying with the quarantine rule. Incase of any suspicions, they may even be visiting the given address in person. I guess this strict enforcing may be partly because the Govt. bears the primary responsibility of the nation's healthcare, on both the fiscal and operational side.
In terms of house showing, due to Covid-19 situations, most of the house showings, esp. through Agents, are being done through video calls. Atleast that has been my experience in the last month when I was searching for a rental property. Coming to banks, it seems you may be able to open bank accounts in Canada through online, without the need for a physical presence.
Lastly, even though you have lost 1.5 years, you still have 1.5 years left(given the req. to stay 2 out of 5 yrs). Hopefully, this should give you ample time on your hands to fulfill your settlement needs without taking undue risks/stress. Good Luck on your move!

Yeah, I do understand I still have 1.5 years, but then the Covid-19 is not going away in 6 month.
Experts are saying it quite likely its here till end of 2021.

Anyways, we are doing virtual showings but when it comes to putting an offer, I would personally like to see the property once at least.
Also, we did try opening bank account online. Got calls from the institution to visit the branch to verify papers and get the debit card.
And again we can't buy a house without transferring funds to a Canadian bank account.
Everything is linked and its just frustrating.
Thanks for your inputs though. Good luck with you move!

How do the people commuting to US, manage the 14 days quarantine obligation?

Technically every time you enter in Canada from US, you need to quarantine.
It's not enforced for commuters?

I tried to cross border with intention of adding my days in Canada but the CBSA officer told me unless i can stay in Canada for 14 days, he can not let me in. He said its against the law now. I haven't made my move yet but just wanted to stay in a temp accommodation and come to US everyday. I am surprised how you guys are commuting daily in a non - essential job situation

He said once I enter Canada, I have to stay at one place for 14 days. I can not even leave Canada. Was he wrong?

Hi Friends,

I am planning to move to Windsor, ON soon and working for a company in Detroit,MI. Any idea on what is the cheapest phone service valid in both countries. Also any guideline for tax complication will be appreciated.

simply entering is different from essential traveling. your travel attempt cannot be considered essential by any means, so the agent was absolutely right. if you reside in Windsor and commute to work for Detroit, then they might view your case differently.
