By early-mid May it was "any time soon" so I couldn't risk going there and being banned from re-entry while sitting in quarantine (with a house and mortgage and multiple pets in the US). Hindsight is always useful right? The original projected date was May 22, then June 5, now June 10-11

Makes sense.. did you ask CIC for extension?

Canada and the United States are set to extend a ban on non-essential travel to late July

i believe the restrictions on essential travels will continue for several months until situation is under control. They mainly have the restrictions on essential travels because once this gets lifted, plenty of visa free travelers (USA passport & Canadian Passport) will start flowing in the border increasing the risk of spread as well as making quarantine enforcement difficult on Canadian side

I agree. Also they are not restricting work visas hence it seems to be not affecting us whoever going to work.

I assume that they will not allow me if i want to go for shopping, correct? Anyone attempted?

1. Yes we know. We can wait on actual rule to take a call. https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-i...ry-bans-and-future-regulatory-changes.690470/

I am H1-B visa holder, living in Detroit suburbs. My COPR is expiring on July 7th, 2020.
I am confused about whether it is safe to do soft landing now?
Can anyone suggest me, if there will any issues while re entering USA? I am planning to just complete formality for now and will move to Windsor after Covid is over.
I appreciate your input.

What issues are you talking about? If you enter Canada you have to isolate for 14 days and its mandatory. You can go back to US on the 15th day

I thought, I would just complete landing process at the border and come back to USA immediately. If isolation is mandatory, is Canadian govt. tracking you?

Yes, all of your details will be taken, you will be given specific instructions on how to isolate etc. Fines are heavy if you voilate upto 750K
See the link https://www.canada.ca/en/public-hea...us-infection/latest-travel-health-advice.html
Thank you for the information. I appreciate it, do you have any suggestion for me, my COPR will be expired on July 9th, 2020. I do not wish to move to windsor right now but also don't want to give IELTS and go through entire process again. :(

How big are your commitments in USA, mainly home? Also, do you have your H1 extension coming up in near future?

They cant/dont till you go back to Canada within 14 days. So as long as cbp allows you inside, i dont see an issue.

issue for everyone planning to land is imminent executive order barring H1bs. people are concerned that if it comes during 14 day quarantine, they would be stuck forever in Canada with all ties being in US.

Guys, this is getting serious. At first I thought they were just bluffing.

https://www.wsj.com/articles/trump-...h-1b-other-visas-through-the-fall-11591915950

Now, my concern is- do you guys think that administration is going to implement the executive order few days after officialy announcing it? Meaning will it give us couple of days to enter the US once we know that executive order is out?
I just would like to do some brainstorming here, I know that no one knows for sure.
Thanks.

Typically such proclamations or EOs take immediate effect or the very next day. If you are planning to wait and watch, I recommend doing that from US. Enter over this weekend.

I see. How are you guys and others reacting to this who are living in Windsor and commuting daily to states on H1B?
Just asking because Finding an temp. accommodation back in metro Detroit is very tough now that we have mortagage here in Windsor. Its going to be financially tough as well.
