Hi
I came to Canada in August 2015. I was 16 years old so I had a custodianship form signed by my parents and my custodian. I just want to know that do I need a custodian now as i will turn 18 in november. There is nothing mentioned in the custodianship form. Most of my classmates are 17 and they live on their own. I am just curious to know that because for every single thing I have to bother my custodian for giving me permission.

A custodian is not always needed for international students but since you already have one listed, you might be stuck with him until you reach the age of majority or renew your study permit whichever comes first. In some provinces, the age of majority is 18, in others it is 19.

I TURN 19 IN 2017 BUT MY STUDY PERMIT EXPIRES IN 2016 NOVEMBER. IF I RENEW MY STUDY PERMIT, I DON'T NEED THE CUSTODIAN.

Drop the capslock if you want answers...

It's at the discretion of the officer if you are between the age of 17 and 19 (if 19 is the age of majority in your province) but you have good chances of not needing one when you renew since you are older than 17.
